"You need to stick that landing Hazel or you can kiss the prize goodbye!” I called out to one of my star students, Hazel Smith.

"Sorry! I-I have been practising!” She replied, pulling herself up from the mats.

This is where life took me after high school. I had been on the Bumblebees Cheer Squad and the acrobatics team, which lead to different coaches offering me a job after senior year.

Coaching and choreographing the performances of the Koyote Calisthenics Club was what I chose. There were three clubs in Happy Harbour, but this one spoke to me; it was the closest to home.

Plus, one of my closest friends from high school, Alice, also worked there.

However, this was only temporary. At least I hope it will be. I’ve applied for Medical School, to become a Doctor.

"Okay, one more time girls," I said to Hazel and Jean, who were doing a duet performance in the open category. I put their song, Dear Boy, back on the stereo.

They begun their dance and I watched them carefully. Over the other side of the room, Alice was working with the acrobatics troupe. Competition was in three weeks, which meant we had to work hard.

Hazel stuck her landing this time from flipping off of Jean's shoulder. The song finished and she ran over to me grinning. "I did it!" She grinned happily.

I smiled down at the fifteen year old. "Well done; I know it's hard, but you're doing the best you can which is more than enough," I told her, patting her head. She smiled brightly.

"Alright! Hit the showers and you’re free. Practise those landings," Alice said, walking over to me.

"Not you Haze. Let's see your solo," I added as the brunette turned away. I found the song Young and Beautiful and put it on. It blasted through the speakers and she began her dance.

"Higher!" I yell as she does her kick sequence. Strong arms suddenly wrap around me. I ignore Dick and continue yelling instructions at Hazel.

"Those toes should be pointed!" Was the last thing I shouted, before the song finished and she remained in a valdez. I know I was hard on her, but that's how you have to be in calisthenics.

"See you later Miss Shiloh! Miss Hyphen!" Some students called out who were leaving. They giggled walking past Dick and I, like they always did. Kids these days.

Hazel collapsed on the mat, breathing hard. "Give me a sec," I said to Dick, kissing him. I walked over and sat down beside Hazel on the mat.

"Got that tree planted yet?" I asked her, patting her back.

"No," she panted, pulling herself up. "Still got to take care of mom, you know?" I smiled at her. Hazel's mother was sick. I never ask where her dad is and don't plan to.
