Oookay, quick explanation of the soulmate au I'll be using here.

There's a string of sorts attached to each of their fingers, that connects them. Only a few people can actually see everyone's strings, and most can't even see their own. The string connects soulmates; however, if your soulmate marries someone else, the string will break, and you will die. A new string will form between the two.

Hope that made at least a little sense.

Russia was expecting death to come for him soon at this point.

He was one of the lucky-- hah, as if-- people who got to see everyone's string. From the first moment he met America, he saw the string connecting them, and knew they were soulmates. Unfortunately, America couldn't see the string that bonded them, and that wasn't something that was so easy discussing.

They did, however, socialize with each other quite frequently. Russia believed he could form a bond, perhaps mention it after the two confessed to each other; everything would've played out perfectly. Then Philippines was added into the mix. Quite literally, added.

Japan had been playing matchmaker, and managed to get Philippines and America out on a date together. The poor girl had no idea Philippines was her soulmate, and if things worked out, she would most definitely have signed her death certificate. Unable to do anything to stop the two, Russia had watched the two grow closer and closer over the months. Sure, him and America grew closer as well, and maybe there had been a chance once for them to become closer than Philippines was to him..

Then Philippines had proposed.

Russia's plan, Russia's world, Russia's very life had all been thrown into jeopardy. Still not telling America about the string, he had watched as the American accepted. Vodka had been his consolation that night. Lots and lots of vodka.

As if to add insult to injury, even though America had no idea about any of it, he was made the best man of the wedding. He had put on his best smile, trying to act as though that was a good thing, and he appreciated the role he'd get in America's wedding-- or, more like, his execution.

Tomorrow was the wedding.

Tomorrow was the day his soulmate left him.

Tomorrow was his death.

Even facing his own end, he was more worried about America. He would be in front, beside America, at the wedding, and when they kissed to bind it, he would die. It was obvious America, as well as everyone else, would see. He could always tell America about the string, save his own life, perhaps even be able to be in a relationship with the American. Of course, he would have to discuss it with Philippines first, that only felt right.

He stood up to head over to Philippines place, walking through the sidewalks silently, trying to keep his mind from wandering. Everything had been on the right course, going perfectly, and here it was, falling off the tracks like a derailed train. An utter mess. What a beautiful evaluation of his life.

Arriving at her place, he knocked on the door. She answered a moment later, squinting up at him silently, before giving a slow, "Yes..?"

Russia frowned down at her, unsure how to exactly bring this up or go about this. "Well, uh, you see.. America and I are tied by the soulmate string."

"And..?" Philippines prompted silently, her expression not changing.

Russia blinked down at her, not understanding the question for a moment, before slowly explaining it. Trying to pace himself, like he was explaining it to a toddler. "And you two are getting married tomorrow.."
