I never quite figured
a word to describe
how I long for something
every night.
Something that's strong and rare
A passion, a hobby
or maybe a purpose—
I don't care.
I never quite know
what it feels
to love something
with no fear,
To fight and not regret,
to be happy or, at least,
content.
I never had the chance to feel
a flame impossible to conceal
a strong desire to be,
or even an intensity.
I'm always just in between
the valleys of vast green.
A rose withering of time,
a poetry that never rhymed.
Every second, I go numb
in the darkness, I fear to succumb.
But someday I still hope
to find purpose under the sun.
or maybe just find home
from somewhere or someone.
