There's nothing wrong with Mr. Gorgeous really, except that Steve wanted to objectify him in every way, the image of tangled limbs and shuddering lips flashing across him mind.
I am so fucking in love with you. I was this close to moving on. That three second our gazes met, not a trace of recognition in your eyes, and that disdainful scowl planted on your lips. You still don't remember us. I was fucking ready to move on. Fucking hell.
The next morning, a little heartbroken on the inside, we meet. Seconds after my friend mentioned your name.
"What are you doing here?" you ask. I stutter watching in slow motion as you shake my friend's hand.
"I've got a health checkup in five minutes, so I'll see you." And you hug me. It means nothing. It's our third hug, the first outside the cryostasis chamber, the second I stole from you after training and the third... means nothing. I know that.
"His hand was clammy." My friend snickers when you leave. I can't even remember if you smiled.
"You ready? Looking a little busy there." Steve looks up from the email and closes the window, clicking the X button and forcing a somber smile.
Nodding, he gets up and lets Nat link her arm with his. "Let's."
"I feel it in my bones. I'm gonna fucking run into him," Steve hisses, wrapping his arms around his body as they storm through the hallway. He catches a glimpse of himself on the glass doors. Fuck. He looks like hell - like up for 24 hours on Redbull hell.
"No, relax alright," Nat places a hand on his shoulder.
They get to the bridge. Steve asks about fertilizers. "No! They don't make trees grow taller than they should."
They (Steve) burst out laughing (cackling). Then Bucky passes Steve at that precise moment, in his grey sweater, one of his earphones clipped in his ear. He smiles at Steve, unsure. Doesn't approach him though.
Steve freaks out. Laughing. Brushing it off until Bucky was out of sight.
Realizes he wore Nat's mom jeans today. Shit. Has a mini mental breakdown.
