Chapter 6: The Map of the Galaxy

Start from the beginning

The room was empty, shielded in a hemisphere shaped glass which everything around the spaceship was clearly shown.

"This is actually a nice place if there are stars around instead of dense black smoke," Silva stated, leaning against the glass, "I guess that is our aircraft debris, right next to the entrance of the spaceship. The cities are nowhere to be found."

"Like who on earth would climb up so high only for observing the smoke around," Villa scoffed, until he spotted a huge transparent tube next to the end of the stairs with a door on, "Is that a lift?"

"I regret not taking the lift then," Xavi moaned.

"A lift, you say?" Silva felt blood start to drain from his cheeks, "Then the army of aliens must have come up here with the lift! They are waiting silently for their prey here. See? I was right."

"I'm sure they aren't here. They aren't even seen," Villa countered back, "This is a white, round, empty room surrounded with a 360o glass, dumb. Nothing can be hidden unless they are invisible."

"How dare you..."

"Okay, this is enough. No arguing," Xavi interrupted, "Stop, David, stop."

"Which David you're saying?" Villa and Silva asked simultaneously.

"Both of you," Xavi rolled his eyes, taking a step back to the middle of the room, "This isn't funny at all."

A sudden click was heard under Xavi's foot.

"Xavi, did you just step on something?" Silva frowned. Xavi shifted away immediately from where he was standing, heart pounding hard against his chest. The glares from the two Davids were embarrassing him like he was a careless, immature adolescent. A white button was seen under his ankle when he gasped an apology, "Sorry, I didn't do it on purpose..."

Pixels of lights began to blend as a crystal ball gradually emerged in the middle of the room. With a shape of an icosahedron, the shimmering crystal ball wasn't any larger than a child's fist.

"Run to the lift!" Xavi yelped, "It could be something dangerous!"

"The lift is occupied," Villa panted, "They are currently at the 68th floor, and the 100th floor the only one that has the exit of the lift. They must be coming towards us."

69, 70, 71...

"Joder, I told you there was a trap," Silva cursed beneath his breath, "Run to the stairs then!"

"Now loading the Map of the Galaxy..." A sound uttered from the crystal ball announced, "Loading completed. Opening file 'milkyway.mog'..."

"Did you hear that?" Villa asked with widened eyes, "The crystal ball is only a map."

Three Spaniards peeked out from the staircase with curious gazes. Their visions were settled on the virtual Milky Way projected from the glistening crystal ball.

76, 77, 78...

"It looks like some sort of high-tech 3D map in a Si-Fi movie," Silva murmured, "Mind if I touch it? Perhaps it can take us to somewhere else."

"Better not," Xavi shrugged, "We aren't sure what will happen so just leave it alone."

"I swear it can do no harm," Silva grinned when he swiped the projection towards right, and the virtual Milky Way spun as he had expected.

"It's a map of the whole galaxy!" Villa exclaimed in awe at what he was seeing, "And look at all those beautiful planets! Can you find Earth?"

83, 84, 85...

Don't you dare to tell me you're interested as well, Villa, Xavi thought in mind.

"I'm still finding the Solar System..." Villa looked at the map. "Ah there it is. And there's Earth! Oh wait... 'Annihilated'? Do they really mean Earth is intruded by those aliens and is now doomed?"

"Leave it there," Silva gulped, not wanting to accept what Villa had said, "Why don't we explore other galaxies? There are billions of files waiting for us to open. Hmm...this galaxy here is pretty."

Opening file 'm81.mog'...

90, 91, 92...

"Oh gosh," Xavi stuttered abruptly, "The lift! Guys, we forgot about the lift! They are only eight floors beneath us!"

A loud boom was heard all of a sudden. Strong light flickered into the room and a fire, again, rose up into the murky sky.

"Was it an explosion?" Villa panicked, "The sound came from outside!"

The three Spaniards gathered at the window before they saw something horrible...

97, 98, 99...

"I think we'd better run."

A/N: See? The description of the crystal ball really sucks...look at the pic or ask me if it is complicated. The next chapter will be the weirdest and most awkward chapter you've ever read! Thanks for reading xoxo
