The Android nodded, and a few seconds later, she handed you your desserts in a green paper bag.
"That will cost fifteen dollars, miss." The Android cashier said. You handed her the money, then left.
You're lucky to at least have a job. Most of the cruelties against Androids are because of that. They're perfect for every kind of job... too perfect. But you feel relieved, today may not be your working day, but tomorrow will. You need the money to survive, of course, doesn't everyone? You work hard every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. From 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
You made it to the police department. There was a considerable amount of people around, but nothing unusual.
"Hello" You said as you walked to the receptionist. "I'm here to talk to Lieutenant Anderson."
"Do you have an authorization?" The Android politely asked.
"Um..." You showed her the paper bag. " It's more like a delivery. I'm a relative of his, you know?"
The receptionist quickly scanned through the paper bag, nothing threatening in there. She smiled. "You can wait at his desk, Lieutenant Anderson will arrive soon."
"Thanks" You smiled back, leaving the reception room.
Your eyes wandered around as you walked to Hank's desk. Nothing changed. The department's still the same. Everybody knows you around here. The reason is also obvious: your dad. Your dad used to bring you to this place back when you were a kid. You'd spend all day playing around, pretending to be a cop, and Hank and your dad would be the bad guys. They were your role models, especially Hank. He's the real hero.
But of course, that is in the past now. Now you're an adult, this place doesn't suit you. But it's been a while since you came, you even doubt that if someone will recognize you. There are new faces around here, therefore some of them don't know who you are.
But there's always a familiar face.
"(Y/N)? Is that you?" You turned your face to the direction the voice came from. It was Gavin, he walked over to you with his usual cocky smile. "When was the last time I saw you?"
"Yeah, it's been a while." You responded. You already know Gavin, and his arrogant personality. Even though you're used to him joking around, you don't really appreciate his attitude. You find him disrespectful in some way, mostly when it comes to Hank.
"You're looking..." He looked at you from head to toe, smirking. " Great as always."
"Right." You said, glaring at him, kind of disgusted. "Better go get your coffee. You've got a lot of work to do, don't ya?"
" That's what professionals do, (Y/N). They work." Gavin said as he left. You're still the same old (Y/N), a person with a tough, sarcastic personality, yet with a caring heart. Obviously you got the sarcasm from Hank, sometimes people would say you sound like him.
You sat down for a few minutes, feeling bored, then hunger finally got to your stomach. You ate one of the muffins you bought, it was still warm. While nobody was watching you started reading your godfather's files, the cases he has to investigate. The most recent ones were talking about deviants. You shouldn't be reading that, but take a peek won't hurt, right?
"Excuse me-" You felt a hand touch your right shoulder, making you jump on the chair.
"Oh fuck!" You quickly cursed in fright, turning the computer off in a blink of an eye. Your heart skipped a beat.
You turned your head around. It was a man--not a man, but a male Android.
"This is lieutenant's desk, yes?" He politely asked.
