July 8th.

Sahara Desert, Egypt.

12 PM.

"(Y/N)."

...

"(Y/N)!"

"What?!" You yell back in annoyance, swinging your head to the direction of your father calling your name.
"I need you to deliver these gallons of water for me to Abdelfattah's shed before sunset, got it?"

"But I did that last week! Shouldn't Yasmine-"

"Before sunset! They're on the porch outside! Thank you for being a lovely daughter who will do as I say because I asked nicely!"

You shook your head in disbelief, vexed that your father was letting your sister go again because it was her 'period' and she couldn't bother getting outside into the heat.
You knew she was faking it, even your dad had a feeling that periods shouldn't last more than a week.
But he certainly wouldn't bother checking.

Deciding you didn't want to argue any further, you sigh and say fuck it, making a mental note in your head to kick Yasmine's ass if she uses the same excuse next week.

"Fine, but I'm not wearing a burqa! It's 40 degrees outside!"

"Take a dagger with you, then. I don't want villagers seeing a woman out alone by herself."

.

The sun was excruciatingly hot.
You could already feel your shoulders burning and mentally prepare yourself for a night of peeling off dead skin.
Thankfully, you weren't going to die of a heatstroke this time. You made sure your dagger was packed into the belt of your shorts and had your black tank top tucked in neatly as your camel walked with its usual pace towards the designated area.

The camel stops, however, and begins howling deeply while raising its front hooves before backing away, almost causing you to fall off.
"Yah! Yabny! Ehda!" (Calm down!) you held onto the ropes of it's mouth to pull back and control it, but the action only angered the large animal more.
The camel trots once more to the back and finally slips you off it's hump before you land on the sand sharply, the hot sand stings your skin as you groan and hiss from the impact.
Standing up, you dust yourself off and furrow your brows angrily at the animal.

"Ya homar! What the hell is wrong with y–"

Midway through your tantrum, your eyes catch the source of your camel's burst of panic.
Just two meters in front of you laid a peculiar looking man with large green hair and odd symbols on his face, his attire exposing his torso that was coated in blood from a wound.

"Oh my god." You mutter under your breath, feeling your heart hammer against your chest.
If he was dead, you would be the last person to see him and therefore had to carry him back home.
But this was a full grown man. Just the thought of coming near him sent a shiver down your spine.
Regardless, you had to act quick. The sun was boiling the both of you and you didn't wanna stay in the desert any longer.

Quickly, you unbuckle a gallon of water and trot to the unconscious man before falling on your knees beside him, muttering 'please be alive.' Over and over again under your breath as you coated your hands with the cold water and gently pressed it against his face and cheeks.

"Sir? Hello? Please, wake up." You spoke in English after acknowledging he did not look anywhere near Arab.
His skin was burning to the touch and was dusty from the sand, but you couldn't help but sigh in relief after feeling his temple move when he clenched his jaw.

The man opens his eyes slowly to reveal a set of emerald green pupils, looking directly into your eyes.
"Oh, God. You're alive." You smile and sit back to allow him space to breathe.
