Chapter 19

Your P.O.V.


I wish I never found out. Somethings are better left unsaid...but now that I know I don't know how to feel. Freezing under Pet's deathly stare her body twitches and spazzes at some points and her nails dig into my shoulders. "C-Corinna...?" I echo my voice cracking. 


Pet lets go of me and runs her nails down her face causing a few scratches...she's so unstable. She starts laughing and her eyes roll back a bit, Tears build up in the corner of her eyes. I flinch when she lets out as she cries out at such a high tone. Tears flow down her face as she chokes on her sobs. What do I do? This isn't the Pet I know...


What did Corinna do to her? "Pet...come on you need to calm down," I say in a soft tone. I can't touch her...what if she lashes out at me. Kou bolts up after her second scream, rubbing his eyes tiredly, "What's happening??" He yawns out, I glare over at him he freezes seeing Pet sitting up and crying hysterically. 


"W-Woah! Pet, c' mon don't-" Kou places his hand on her shoulder causing her to attempt at biting his fingers. He screams a bit and retracts it in time, "You almost chopped my fingers off! What the hell!" 


"Kou shut up, now's not the time." I snap at him and return my attention to the broken girl in front of me. Her body trembles harder with each cry she lets out, she leans forward suddenly and places her forehead on my lap, "Y-Y/n!" She cries, staring with wide eyes I'm unsure of what to do. Do I try and rub her back to soothe her down?? 

Yeah...I should try and do that. Gently placing my hand on her back I rub small circles and let out light shushing noises. Her sobs turned to whimpers in no time, her breathing still shaking but we can work on that.


"Just breathe...i-it's gonna be ok...Kou, why don't you go make some tea for us?"


He nods and quickly stands up sliding the door open and scampering out to the kitchen. "Y-Y/n," She murmurs, lifting her head. Her chubby cheeks are stained red from her tears and a little scratched up from her nails.  Her eyes are bloodshot and a little swollen in the corners. Her nose runs and tears still dripping down.


My heart aches at the sight of my dear sister in such an awful state.  I slowly bring my hand up to cup her cheek and wipe away stray tears from her hot cheeks. She nuzzles into the palm of my hand, looking up at me with a sorry expression. Pet's eyebrows dip and her bottom lip quivers. "I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry...I should've spoken sooner but I couldn't...I have something-"


"Ok I got the tea," Kou interrupts, entering the room with a tray in both hands with three mugs of steaming tea. I take my hand off of Pet's face as he sits down on either side of us and places the tray in the middle of all of us. "Thank you." I smile gently at Kou who nods his head, taking his mug by the handle and sipping from it. I do the same. What was Pet going to say?


She takes her mug with both hands and sips from it, a small smile brimming her face. Pet sniffs and sighs shakily, placing the mug down she says a quiet, "Thank you.." 

"So..." Kou clears his throat, "What happened?" I smack the back of his head, "What was that for?!" "You can't just ask that!" "Why not!?" "You're an idiot! I see why Pet always fights you now!" 


We bare our teeth at each other causing Pet to giggle dryly. "Heh... I'm jealous..." She smiles a little more, "I missed fighting with you, Kou." 

"Wha? For real?" He says, I can tell he missed fighting her as well. It was a weird sibling relationship, but they love each other. And that's what matters... I know I got mad at Kou for asking such an insensitive question but I am pretty curious...how did she find out about Corrina? And why didn't we even know Corrina was a kitsune like us? How? Chewing at my bottom lip I stare at the tea in my mug, trying to come up with something to say.


"Yeah, for real," Pet says. She sighs, "And to answer your question... I...I was stupid." Her grip tightens on her mug, "I'm so sorry...you might want to get dad." Kou and I look at each other, exchanging worried looks, Kou nods and stands up leaving to go get Dad. I reach a handover and gently place it over her's, she looks up at me with her one visible eye. 


"It'll be ok. Whatever it is we'll understand and we'll help you through it." Her teeth chew at the bottom of her lip, "But one of the things affect you guys...big time." She hangs her  head and lightly flicks my hand off of hers, "It's all my fault."



I open my mouth to speak but the sound of pounding footsteps charging towards our room making me look at the door. Dad zooms in attacking Pet in a hug, "My baby!!!" He weeps dramatically rubbing his face against her's, "GAH!" Pet yelps, holding her tea out so he doesn't spill it. 


"Dad," Kou chuckles, "Sit down...we need to talk about everything." Dad looks at Kou with narrowing eyes, "You are mistaken if you think I'm going to let go of my precious daughter, I'm disowning you for that!"

"WHAT?!"


He laughs, "I'm joking~" Dad releases Pet and sits between Pet and I, Kou does as well creating a square of people. All attention lands on Pet who sucks in a breath and releases it. "Ok..." She mumbles and stares at her mug, "Y/n and Travis were walking in the woods and I tagged along. But I decided to go ahead of them on the path." She begins,


"I waited by a tree and I found a fox, I didn't know them so I decided not to greet them just yet. They transformed into a...h-human. C-Corinna." Dad lets in a sharp breath, "From...your guys' last school?"


We all nod, Dad stares in shock, "She was a kitsune?" Pet nods, "Yeah... I tried to sneak away but I stepped on a twig, it snapped and she caught me right away and immediately knew it was me... I-I don't know how!" Pet furrows her eyebrows and her lip curls.


She lets out a shaky sigh, running her fingers through her messy curly brown hair. "I tried to fight her off but she took me... a-and she told me she would expose my secret if I didn't keep her's...and to make sure of it she'd burn me over and over with fire... torture me in any way she could."

"But they never found any injuries..." Kou says his eyes wide. Pet nods, "Because she erased them."


"What?" We all say in confusion.


"She erased them. With a potion, she bought then deserted my body in the woods."

"Wow...I don't know what to say..." I mutter staring at my sister who continues to stare at her tea.

"That's not the worst part...."


Dad, Kou and I look at her with worry in our eyes... "What do you mean?" I ask, "The doctors...."





Her eye looks up and clashes with mine,



"They took a sample of my blood."
