I looked at my body next. I could see my ribs, which made me ashamed of myself. How could I starve myself like this?
"You read—" I turned to see Gabriel, looking at me. I quickly covered myself up. Thank god I wasn't totally naked.
"I'm almost ready" I was so embarrassed he had to see my ugly body. He still stood there, which made me nervous.
"Right, sorry." He looked at me, one last time, then left. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
I quickly got dressed and went to the living room. "Finally girl." I looked at him and rolled my eyes.
"Them things gonna get stuck one day." I didn't say anything, just faintly smiled.
"Where we going?"
"It's a surprise" He got up and held out his hand. I grabbed it, and he led me out of the apartment. The moment we stepped outside, I felt my insecurities come back.
I tried to let Gabriel's hand go, but he held it tighter. On the way to his car, we had to walk past a group of girls.
They were talking, but when we pasted them they all got quiet. This didn't do anything for my anxiety, it just made it worse.
But I couldn't do anything about it, so I sucked it up as best as I could until we got to the car.
Gabriel walked me to the passenger side and held the door open for me, then waited until I got in to shut the door.
He ran to his side and started up the car. He didn't even wait for the AC to come on before speeding out the parking lot of the apartment.
"Thank you for opening the door for me" He looked at me weirdly. "Welcome darling" Was all that was said before we sat in silence.
Well, not complete silence. The radio was on, Drake was playing.
"Ion usually do this less I'm drunk or I'm high
But I'm both right now, got me talking bout
my life, Yeah I'm both, yeah, I had a drink
yeah, I smoked....."
I bobbed my head to the beat, it was a good song. It would have to be added to my playlist.
Gabriel pulled up into P.F. Chang's. A huge smile came on my face, my dad used to take me here, just me and him. Those were the good ole days.
I looked over at Gabriel, who was texting, so I chose not to bother him. I unlocked the door and stood outside.
The air was refreshing right now. The smell of the restaurant was making my mouth water.
I heard my stomach rumble.
"Let's get you some food." I smiled faintly again. I didn't know what to say, so I chose to smile.
When did he get out the car?
"No, I want to hear you talk. I don't want to talk to myself because that what it feels like."
"Sorry" He looked at me, intensely. I wanted to look away but his eyes kept me from looking away.
"Can we eat now?" I had to break our eye contest before I ended up saying something dumb.
