A Carriage Ride

"Annie, I've had a letter from Shibden," Miss Lister said from across the table. The glow from their activities the night before shone on her face, marred only by a slight shadow of fatigue. Miss Walker smiled as she remembered.

The last thing Miss Walker wanted to do this morning was to come downstairs and breakfast with her grand-aunt and uncle, but they expected a certain amount of formality during this visit, and Miss Walker couldn't let them down. Today, she'd dressed in one of her older dresses hoping that she and Anne would have a chance to wander the beach and wade into the water. Perhaps later, on the rocks, they'd kiss again and touch each other beneath their skirts.

"Ann, have you heard Miss Lister? She says she must go back to Shibden today."

"What?" Miss Walker started. No, their visit couldn't end so soon. They'd only spent one night together, after all. Would that be enough to keep Anne's attentions?

"I'm sorry, I've got to get back. My Aunt Anne isn't well. Annie, of course you should stay here and enjoy the weekend. I'll send the carriage back around when I get to Shibden, or you can fetch another one from here." Anne was so sorrowful, Miss Walker had no doubt she, too, had been looking forward to the next few days, which were now not to be. Anne rose and dabbed at the corners of her mouth with a napkin. "Mrs. Hornsby, Mr. Hornsby, you've been so gracious. I do hope to visit again after my aunt recovers."

"Don't mention it, Miss Lister. You're as welcome here as one of our own blood. I can see how happy our Ann is to have a friend like you. Never seen her this bright before," said Mrs. Hornsby, who rose to kiss Anne on the cheek.

Miss Lister left to pack her bags, leaving Miss Walker at the table with the remains of her breakfast. Suddenly, she wasn't hungry anymore. She felt as though her insides were being ripped out and stomped upon by a horse. It was a far cry from the pleasure she'd felt last night, over and over again.

"I'm going," she said to nobody in particular.

"What did you say, Ann?" her uncle asked.

"I'll visit again soon, I promise, but I should really go with Miss Lister, for support. Her aunt means very much to her. I hope you don't think poorly of me for leaving so soon," she said as she squeezed their hands.

"Of course, dear. One should always have one's closest friends around at times like these," said Mrs. Hornsby. Her uncle grunted his approval.

Now she only had to convince Anne it was a good idea for her to come along.

"Truly, you needn't to come with me. I'll be fine." Anne squeezed Miss Walker's elbows.

She could tell she was being patronized. The strange mixture of emotions that had surfaced last night, plus her annoyance with Anne, made her cross. She retorted, "you said that someday I might be your wife."

"Well, yes, I hope it might be true."

Miss Walker stood up straighter. "Then it's my duty to support you at times like these. I've made up my mind and I'm going to Shibden." Miss Walker clapped her heel against the floor as punctuation to her decision. To her surprise, Anne's face softened and she smiled, then kissed her on the cheek. She was about to move to Miss Walker's lips when they heard footsteps down the hall.

"That will be Matthew. Get your things packed and we'll be off."

The carriage ride was hours long, down a series of winding, bumpy paths. Anne stared out the window at the pastoral scenery, and Miss Walker, sitting across, stared at Anne. She looked ravenously at Anne's lips, from which untold secrets of pleasure had sprung last night. Anne had kissed her in the place she most needed it, but she had only touched Anne there. She longed to know what it tasted like. And the more she stared at Anne, the more she fell in love with her handsome face.

Miss Walker had an idea. She wasn't sure it was a good one, but it suited her now, and since yesterday evening, following her whims had only done her well. She gathered her skirts and folded herself into the space next to Miss Lister, who shifted to accommodate her. Miss Walker smiled shyly at Miss Lister's questioning look, then grabbed her hand and began to kiss it, much the way her own hand had been kissed yesterday.

Anne watched her with amusement, which slowly turned to desire the closer her lips got to Anne's wrist. Miss Walker flicked her tongue there, causing Anne's eyes to shut at the same time her mouth opened.

"Shut the blinds," Anne said, which was a better reception than Miss Walker had expected. She did as she was told, then lifted her leg and turned so that she straddled Miss Lister. The searing kiss she received was the confirmation she needed to get onto the floor.

"Annie, what on Earth are you doing?" Miss Lister sounded like she only half cared that Miss Walker was on the dusty floor of the carriage kneeling between her legs.

"I want to taste you like you tasted me. It was...tremendous, and I wanted to do that for you." Miss Walker tenderly lifted Miss Lister's skirts and put her head under. It was quite dark now the blinds were drawn and she was under a heap of fabric. She would have to feel her way to Anne's area.

"Oh, Annie," Miss Lister exclaimed as Miss Walker tugged Anne's drawers down a little. The scent of Miss Lister surrounded Miss Walker and she inhaled deeply. It was a mixture of muskiness and fresh rain. She coated her fingers with it and stroked them a few times where she knew Miss Lister liked it. She'd done this last night, always eliciting the same shuddering that had overcome her numerous times. The moment she'd awakened this morning, she knew she needed to taste Miss Lister.

The carriage bumped along as Miss Walker tried her best to kiss the tender flesh on the inside of Miss Lister's thighs. It wasn't easy, but she enjoyed every brush of her lips across Anne's skin. When she was close to Anne's center, she used her hands to steady herself and her tongue to taste the woman who, in time, would be her wife.

Anne let out a loud moan and Miss Walker gripped her thighs harder. She lazily trailed her tongue from bottom to top and back again. Anne began to grab for her head, signalling an urgency that made Miss Walker melt, and she began to lick faster, long broad strokes. She felt Anne all around her, caressing her face, inside her nostrils. This strong-headed, confident woman was completely at her mercy, and it made Miss Walker feel more desire than she ever imagined.

Soon, Anne's muscles went tight and her body froze. She let out a cry that dissolved into the most violent shudder Miss Walker had felt from her yet. She continued tasting Anne until her pleasure was over.

When she sat back on her heels against the other seat, Anne began to laugh.

"You look quite the sight. Come here." Anne enveloped Miss Walker in her arms and kissed her glistening face, a combination of sweat and Miss Lister's own wetness. "That was quite the treat, Annie. Took me quite by surprise. I didn't peg you for such a risk taker."

Miss Walker licked Anne's ear and whispered, "I'm sure you'll find I have a lot of surprises in store for you, Miss Lister."
