Chapter 1

I slammed my alarm. I smacked it so hard, gravity decided to pull it to my carpet floor. I opened my eyes. They were swollen as hell.

"I must've hung out with Maxie last night." I spoke quietly to myself.  That's my dog, I'm allergic to him.

I looked at my blank, white ceiling, very blurry. I turned over on my right side. Blinking harshly a few times to get my eyes used to waking up this early. My eyes decided to stay closed. I had 'no' control.

"Katherine Sawyer! You were supposed to wake up 30 minutes ago! It is your first day of high school if you seemed to forgotten." my mother yelled as she barged in, "your sister has been up forever. She doesn't even start school yet, until tomorrow."

"Sorry mom! I'll get up. I completely forgot." I apologized sincerely.

"Good morning Kate! I love you!" my ten year old sister, Alyssa, jumped on me, still wrapped in my covers.

"i love you to Aly." I spoke. I tossed her off as i threw my covers off of me, they landed on the floor, loosely tied on.

"I should get back to bed. Have a great first day as a ninth grader!" Alyssa smiled as she skipped back to her bedroom across the hall.

"Do you need me to pack a lunch for you sweetie?" My mother asked.

"Yes please. I will hurry up right now! I am so so sorry mom!" I scurried around while sniffing clean clothes to put on. Then i realized my mom, the night before, on the dining room table while I was getting my sleep at 1 in the morning.

I hurried to the table and ran back with the clothes slipping out of my arms. I closed my door tight and quickly put on my nice clothes. A bright yellow fringe top, it was tight, exaggerating my weight. I put on my cute, light blue, and ripped jeans. Tying up my combat boots, I ripped the lunch my mom made and ran to stuff it in my backpack. Thank god I got it ready the night before.

"Thank you mom!" I screamed. I rummaged through my desk and found my bus pass that was under a pile of makeup.

I grabbed my mascara, some lip gloss, and some eyeliner. I didn't have time now, but I was able to put it on on the bus. I got everything full to the brim in my bag and slammed my door on accident.

"Bye Katherine!" both of my parents yelled and waved while closing the front door as I ran to the stop. I live in the country, so my bus stopped its recognition at the top of the hill. I still had seven minutes to spare, plenty of time to get up the steep, elongated hill. I had panted when I finally reached the top.

"Hi Kate!" My friend waved.

"Oh.. uh.." I was slamming my hands on my knees, sort of squatting, I stopped. "hey Beatrice."

"Are you excited?" She jumped.

"I guess, yeah. Hope it's better than eighth grade.." I had a flashback.
