¡welcome!
she had never been one to conform to society. she had never been one to even be a part of society. she preferred the small hideaway in her bedroom window, filled floor to ceiling with books for here to read for hours on end. she loved all kinds of books, from horror to fantasy, but her favorite had to be romance.

she would read them repeatedly, thinking up new plots for them, and even making notes on the cover and throughout the novel. she had no interest in becoming an author though, for she believed that everything made by her wouldn't hold the same magic. She had no time to write anyways, with her nine-to-five job at a local bookstore. It was hidden from the main street of her busy city, but they had a few loyal customers that came in often. Other than helping people find and buy books, she would sit on her desk in the far back corner, with her favorite novel.

She would press her back against the wall and read for hours, her mind taking her back to when the book was set; 1957. The book made the grey world outside disappear, as she imagined the characters in her mind. She was already obsessed with the decade, and the book wasn't curing her addiction. She'd wear clothing that came from the era, even stealing some of her mother's old clothes. Today she wore a blouse and tight thigh-length business skirt. She liked her outfit today, though her roommates didn't think it screamed 'Single twenty-one-year-old'. They liked to make fun of her sense of style, but she thought it was rather childish, even though she'd laugh along with them. She was sitting on her desk as usual, caught up in her book. She'd hardly noticed the time had passed as she looked up to see the windows had darkened.

The manager usually left her in the shop like this, but she had lost track of the time. She closed the large book and went to lock the doors, spying a book out of the corner of her eye.

She picked it up from where it lay, cross open on the pages. She swiped her fingers across the cover, picking up a considerable amount of dust. How long had it been sitting there? She closed the book and wiped off the rest of the dust, revealing a pale yellow cover. Across it were the words 'LOVE THROUGH DECADES' written in bold, blue cursive letters. She looked closer, seeing the numbers '1 9 5 7' sketched into the cover under the title. She thought for a moment, realizing what this meant. She did a small dance of joy, placing the book in her bag before locking up the shop and heading home.
