I didn't want to go. I had made that very clear. "you can't be serious" I had said. "thats worse than hell" I had pleaded. They wouldn't listen. But here I was on a bus traveling across the country. I sighed as my playlist restarted for the hundredth time today. This was my third day on the bus. The toon to Bring me the horizon's "heavy metal" started to play. I looked out the window and pushed my long blue bangs out of my face and accidently hit my black rimmed glasses. I sighed and fixed my glasses.

I look out the window. We pasted a sign that had all kinds if fast-food logos on it. The divers voice rang out through the bus. "we will be taking a detour to use the bathroom and grab any snacks you will need for the remainder of the journey." said the bus driver. The lady sitting next to me coughed. But She didn't cough normally. She coughed like a rich bitch. The "I'm better than you so shut up and let me talk" cough. The cough that makes you want to punch her but you know if you do she would sue you. I tried to push those thoughts down. It's wrong to hit a lady. Even if she is a rich bitch want to be. She looked over to me like she was about to say something. Thank God she didn't I don't think I would be able to hold myself back if she did. She turned her nose up and looked away.

The bus pulled into the truck stop. Bus passengers started to poor off the train. The rich bitch want to be followed.

I stayed back. The bus driver looked back at me. I took my black head phones off and put them around my neck. "arent you going to go in kid?" the bus driver asked, he said "kid" like I was still a small child. In truth, I was almost 18. Well I guess I didn't look it though. I was a scrany teen age boy with a kinda roundish face.
I shook my head. He got up from his seat. "well I have to use the rest room and I can't leave a passenger in here by themself." he said. I got the hint he wasn't asking he wanted me to leave. I sighed and got up. I slung my backpack over my shoulder. The keychains on the bag clinked as they hit one another. I made my way to the front of the bus.
I stepped off the bus the summer sun instantly hit me. I silently hissed. It was hot out about ninety degrees Fahrenheit. And I was in all black. Black converse high tops. Black riped skinny jeans. Black band brackets a third of the way up my arm. then to top it all off my black MCR t-shirt.

Black and summer do not mix. "why me?" I thought as I made my way to the truck stop convenient store.
The door rang as I opened it. I women with blonde hair and dark eyes poped up from behind the counter. "hi" she said in a happy tone. "is there anything I can help you with?" she said in the same tone. "uhh, no I'm fine." I said.

I made my way to the pop freezer. I walked up to the freezer with the Pepsi products. I went to pull the handle to open the freezer. When I brushed hands with a tan boy. I looked to my left where the boy was, so I could yell at him. I stopped when I saw his face.
He was beautiful. He had lightly taned skin probably from working out side in the sun all day. His hair was light brown and curly. He had a kind face like all he did was smile and laugh. Then there was his eyes. It looked like someone had drained the color out if a forests. They were the most beautiful shade of dark green I had ever seen. He laughed. "sorry dude didn't mean to do that." he said. I blushed, even his laugh was beautiful. I scratched the back off my neck. "its fine." I said quietly. I took a step backwards almosting hitting the shelf behind me.

The boy opened the freezer and grabbed a Pepsi. I looked down at my high tops. He looked back at me. "what do you want?" he asked. I looked up. "what?" I asked confused. "what do you want to drink you were about to grab a drink." said the good looking boy. "oh, uh, Mountain dew." I said. He turned around and grabbed a mountain dew from the top shelf. His shirt rode up for a second exposing his body. I blushed a little before he handed me the soda. I grabbed the green bottle thankful for the distraction.

I practically ran to the counter. I put the soda on the counter along with a pack of gum. "three dollars and forty seven cents." said the cashier. I dug around in my backpack. "shit" I said. I must have left it at the last rest stop six hours ago. I looked up at the cashier giving her the I'm sorry look. I ziped up my bag and was about to walk away. "its fine i'll pay for his" I turned around. It was the boy. He had set his soda along with a bag of chips on the counter next to my stuff. "oh that's fine you don't have to!" I said. He turned towards me. He smiled. "its fine its only three dollars." he said. He turned back to the cashier and handed her the money. "any way aren't you on the bus to LA? That's another six hours till the next stop." he said. The cashier handed him his change. he turned back to me. "also I was going to ask if it's okay to sit next to you so I don't have to sit next to the farting old lady for another six hours. I mean it's fine if you don't want to you don't know me after all. I just really didn't want to smell that for the next six hours." he was rambling. A light blush dusted his cheeks. I scratches the back of my head and laugh nervously. "no it's fine I really don't want to sit next to the rich bitch wanna be for the next six hours." I said. He grabbed the bag of the counter, handing me my soda and pack of gum. "thanks" I said quietly. " your welcome." he said with a smile.

We left the store and made our way to the bus. The driver was still in the store so we just waited. It was quite for a while before the boy broke the silents. He held out his hand. "I'm Sam by they way." he smiled. I shook his hand. "Carter." I said. I pulled my hand back and looked down at my feet and adjusted my glasses. "Carters a cool name at least it's not boring like sam." Sam said. I laughed.

The driver finally showed up and we took our seats on the bus. I took the window seat and sat next to me. "so how old are you Carter?" Sam asked. "I'm about to turn 18 next month. What about you?" I said. "Just turned 18" he said. The bus started to fill up.

Me and Sam talked for the rest of the ride LA. After words we shared numbers. I had found my wallet it had just fallen to the the bottom of my bag. And all was good maybe this summer wouldn't be so bad.
