The rest of the day went by slow. I couldn't stop thinking about what Timmy had said in 1st hour. When I got home from school Abby called me. "Hello?" I answered. "Hey Kaitlin, what's wrong with you?" she didn't sound to concerned. "What are you talking about?" but I knew exactly what she was talking about. "You've been giving me the cold shoulder all day. Did I do something wrong, are you mad at me?" "Sorry, it's just been a long day. I was just tired." I lied. "Ok, well talk to me if you need anything." "I always do, don't I." "True, hey you wanna hang out Friday?" "You mean tomorrow?" "Oh yeah. Tomorrow is Friday, oops." "Yeah, sure." "Alright, well see you tomorrow birthday girl!" "See ya." I tossed my phone on the bed and took out my homework. After three hours of homework, I decided to take a little nap. Except that nap lasted until the next morning. I woke up and hopped out of bed to get ready. Today I didn't feel like dressing pretty, so I just threw on so sweats and a t-shirt and went off to school. When I got into my 1st hour I saw Timmy just sitting there with his head down. "Hey." I set my bag down. He looked up slowly, saw it was me and put his head back down. Rude! I just rolled my eyes and shook it off. "Can I talk to you?" I asked in my sweet voice. His head lifted "You're talking right now aren't you?" "Ok, so say you ask your friend a question, but you already know the answer. You're just asking to see if they tell you the truth." he nodded, "But what if they lied to you, what would you do?" I finished. He looked me straight in the eyes, "I would ask them why they were lying." "I-" "Good Morning class, Kaitlin stop talking." I gave Mr. Jackson a glare. Timmy chuckeled, which made me crack a smile, and from that moment I could tell we were going to be friends. "Ok, get with the same partner you were with yesterday." Mr. Jackson instructed. "Hey Kaitlin?" "Yeah." I looked up to see Timmy staring at me, and for the first time I noticed his eyes were a beautiful dark blue. "Since you asked me something, can I ask you something?" he looked down at his paper as if he was nervous. "You just did." I said sarcastically. Completely ignoring my answer he went on. "You can't laugh ok?" "I won't." He took a deep breath, "What's it like to be popular?" I slumped down in my seat. "To be honest with you, it's not all that great." He looked confused. "When you're popular, people automatically judge you, even before they see your face. Like, Oh she's popular? She must be snobby, and rude, and a hoe. But really, we're not. Most of us are actually really nice and funny and virgins. You know?" "How do you think I feel? I get judged the second I walk into a room. People call me emo, goth, crazy, scary, and.... weird." he looked at me and I quickly looked away, feeling guilty about yesterday. "Does that hurt your feelings?" I asked. "Does it hurt your feelings when people judge you before they get to know you?" I nodded. "Exactly." he finished.
