Denise POV
"Madison do I have any meetings coming up any time soon?" I asked my assistant as I walk in my office.
"Umm" as she looks through her IPad. "Yes, you have a meeting in two weeks with Ms. Duboí about the new restaurant in Paris and two days before that you have to leave..."
"For what?" I said kinda of annoyingly and sat down in my office chair. I just got back in town. I need to learn to sit my ass down somewhere.
"You have to be in Houston to make the cake for Mr. and Mrs. Carter's anniversary party." She finishes and takes a seat in front of my desk.
"Lord" I mumbled to myself. I forgot I am getting payed to do that. I would cancel, but it's Beyoncé for crying out loud. I'm tired, not stupid.
"Yea boss lady, you got a lot on your plate. But I mean it is all worth it right? You have everything someone could ask for. A career, a nice home, fancy cars and you have a family that supports you. Lets not forget, you even have a cute ass dog." She says with a smile.
I've always been appreciative of what I have and who I've become. Growing up, I didn't have a lot but my mom made sure that my siblings and I had everything that we needed. I vowed since I was ten, that I was going to make sure when I got older that my mom wasn't going to have to work another day in her life and that's exactly what I did. I could only wish to be half the woman my mom is.
"Yea, but all that didn't come in one night. I worked hard to get where I am today. I mean all the long nights and money I spent to make sure that I'm one of the best chefs and bakers in the world, proves that I'm dedicated to my craft." I said with pride in my voice.
"And it shows! It's good to see a black woman, even though you are still my Spanish mami, be able to become something of themselves without having to use or seek help from a man."
I look away and let out a light hearted chuckle,"I know that's right" I said as I gave her a high five.
She then gets up and adjusts her wine colored Hermès bodycon dress that she complemented with her black Louboutin heels. "Well, is there anything you need me to do before I leave hun?"
"Umm no. I think that's all I needed." She then gets ready to turn around to exit when I stopped her. "Wait! Did you already book my flight to Houston?" I asked as I started to look for one.
"Already covered, first class of course." She says as she winks and leaves out.
As I turn in my chair, I decided to check my personal phone and noticed that I have some unread messages in my group chat with my girls.
