"The foreigners that have come to our planet have been granted permission by the founders and regulators of the Intergalactic Space Treaty. This means that they will now have a control base in Earth's orbit, and will even be able to transport a small portion of their species—"
The man paused the the old broadcast that had been playing in front of him on a holographic screen. The one that had been played in everyone's homes nearly five centuries ago. Their biggest mistake.
He propped up both elbows on the desk and ran his fingers through his dark brown hair, ruffling it. To him, granting permission to these invaders had been the biggest mistake that the people of Earth had ever made. Now, it was like the original inhabitants were being suppressed and ruled over by the Airen.
Being lost in though, he didn't notice another person enter enter his study room. They walked across the hardwood floor and stopped behind the chair of the desk.
"You've been thinking about it too much Cael," the old bearded man said. "It's no use."
Cael Branagh is hands down and rested them on the table. "What do you you mean."
"What I mean is that forget about the past," He said, "Don't put your mind on things that aren't possible." His tired eyes looked to the screen that was paused.
Cael got up from his seat and turned around. "How can I Father? This is our home planet, not theirs! We should be the ones in control!"
His father remained silent.
Cael then stormed out of the room and turned right into a hallway, muttering to himself. A few servants were hurrying about, so he slowed down his pace. He couldn't stop thinking about it, and ended up being internally frustrated.
His personal maid had noticed and quickly hurried to his side. "Are you alright, Sir Ardin?"
"Yes, I'm fine Junia," Cael sighed. "I just need a glass of water."
"Right away, Sir." Junia hurried off to the kitchen.
Cael sighed again and rubbed his temples. From around the corner, a tall woman with the same color hair as him started walking towards him.
"Oh, Cael. Stop being so serious all the time," she said. "You're going to end up having stress wrinkles."
"That's easy for you to say Ezri," He chuckled. "It's hard enough operating a manufacturing company, not to mention being head of this family ever since father retired. Come to think of it, no one ever helps me either."
"Hey! I run that company with you! Have some respect for your older sister!" Ezri pouted with crossed arms.
"Honestly, you act so childish that you're hardly considered an older sister." Cael said bluntly.
"What is that supposed to mean!?" Ezri started fuming. "Are you implying that I act too much like a child?!"
"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" Cael laughed again and waved his hands slightly. "At least mostly." He added under his breath.
"Your water, Sir Ardin," said a voice behind them. "And for you as well, Miss Ezri." Junia stood with a tray that had a few glasses of water on it.
"Thank you Junia. You may take the rest of the day off after this." Cael said, taking a glass from the tray.
As Ezri took a glass and thanked Junia, another servant came running down the the corridor towards Cael.
"Sir! Sir Ardin!" He shouted while running. "It's your wife!"
Cael nearly spit out his drink. "What!?"

Cael slowly entered one of the mansions large bedrooms. The wall opposite of the door was covered in windows which created a glow like aura on the person sitting on the canopy bed.
"Neriah!" He smiled at the baby in her arms. "How long has it been?"
She smiled right back. "About fifteen minutes."
Cael narrowed his eyes. "And they didn't think to notify me before??"
"It's fine Cael, never mind about that now. Be happy like a normal father would." Neriah said with a slight laugh.
He walked over to the windowsill and looked off into the rolling hills. "But I am, Neriah," Cael said. "I'm overjoyed, truly. But I'm just afraid that I might put you in danger."
"Jace and I would would always feel safe with you Cael. You could never put us in danger." Neriah said with a soft expression.
Cael turned his head and looked at her. "Wait, you named him after my great grandfather?"
"What?" She shrugged. "Kace sounded like a good name so I changed it up a bit. Plus, your great grandfather was an amazing man. He reminded me of you."
Cael sat down on the edge of the bed and took the baby in his arms, smiling proudly. "So Jace, huh? He looks a lot like you Neriah!"
