Mirrors are crazy things. How does something show such an exact replica of yourself, but there's always something not quite right whenever you look. Like in the changing rooms at shops and you think 'im not that short right?' and 'I can see my bones stop making me look thick". They're like a portal to another dimension almost. Their left is our right though. Have you ever looked in a mirror at 3:00am? Have you ever seen it blink?
Have you ever realised it's actually a window?
A small ginger girl sat on her bed staring at a mirror. Her eyes looking like she'd smudged eyeliner under them and then added months without sleep. Tick tick tick. She stared at the clock. Ten to...ten...to four? Huh, almost early. She pulled out a phone with a cracked screen glaring at it when the touch pad lagged. Quickly typing a text to her friend she lay back laughing at the reply. It was a simple
"Sleep ginge" but nevertheless she snuck out her room to check if said friend was actually awake.

"Salutations fren!" The ginger, Hannah, whispered through the door. Earning a groan from the other side. "Hey it's late you should really be asleep Kacey,"
"Fuck off" came the voice.
"Oof alright" Hannah huffed and went back to her room.
The problem of being awake is always the quiet. The clear oppressive silence, blasting through her eardrums and causing her brain to rush and her legs to twitch. The quiet that caused the hairs on the back of her neck to stand up and a knot to appear in her stomach. Too quiet. Too quiet.
The ginger grabbed a pair of headphones and blasted her playlist on shuffle.
Well that's ironic.
The song playing was set it offs own "I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead"
The music worked. The silence was gone.
Tick tick tick five past four
