"Damon," Mallory suddenly said, causing Elena to stare at her in shock, "Yeah, you and Stefan fit, but the way I've seen you with Damon...it's different. But a good different. Deep down, everyone wants a love that consumes them. Caroline doesn't see what I see. It's not just that you make Damon a better person. You do, but...my brother changes you as well. He challenges you, surprises you. He makes you question your entire life, beliefs. Stefan is different. His love is pure. He'll always be good for you. But Damon...Well, he's either the best thing for you, or the worst," She paused, letting out a large sigh, "I'm betting on him being the best."

Mallory sent Elena a small smile, just before walking away.

______

That night, Mallory walked up to Caroline's house, wearing an old outfit she had saved from her time in the 1920s. She wore a white beaded flapper dress and a headband. Her hair was curled and she wore just a bit of makeup.

She took a deep breath, just before knocking on the door. Caroline soon opened up the door, already dressed, which shocked, "Huh, I was expecting you to still be getting ready," She commented, only to notice how amazing Caroline looked, "Wow, Care. You look amazing."

"So do you!" Caroline replied enthusiastically, a large smile on her face as Mallory continued to stare at her in awe,"What's that look for?"

Mallory quickly shook herself out of her thoughts, a smile forming on her lips, "I got you something," She informed Caroline, going into her small purse and taking out a pearl necklace, one that happened to be from the 20's as well, "I wanted to give you this. I thought it would go great with your outfit."

"Where did you get it from?" Caroline asked Mallory curiously, taking a step back so that she could enter the house.

Caroline's back faced Mallory as the elder female vampire stood behind her, about to put the necklace on her, "I stole it," Mallory informed her, causing Caroline to turn her head to give her a scolding look, "Relax, Care. It happened over ninety years ago. And I stole it from Rebekah."

"I thought you hadn't seen Klaus and his siblings in over eight hundred years," Caroline told Mallory a confused look.

She moved her hair to one side, allowing Mallory to place the necklace on her, "I said I didn't speak to them in eight hundred years," She corrected Caroline, "The second Klaus came to America, I followed him everywhere he was. I did other things, of course, to live my vampire life to the fullest, but I still had some time on my hands. I like to know where my enemies are at all times, to make sure they're not coming after me."

"You make it sound as though you have a lot of enemies," Caroline stated, letting out a small breath as she closed her eyes, feeling Mallory's touch on her neck and back.

"I do," Mallory bluntly replied, "I have so many enemies that it could list a thousand pages. It would probably be longer than the Bible."

"Wow," Caroline scoffed as Mallory took a step back, finished with placing the necklace on her, "That must suck," She paused, turning to face Mallory, "But if you have so many enemies, how are you--"

"How am I still alive?" Mallory asked, finishing Caroline's sentence for her, "Because I'm smart. And I've done things in the past that I now regret."

"Like what?" Caroline asked quietly and Mallory avoided eye contact with her.

"I don't want to talk about," She told Caroline, her voice just above a whisper.

Caroline nodded her head in understanding, turning so that she was facing the mirror. She smiled, finding that the necklace matched her outfit perfectly. She absolutely loved it.
