introvert in·tro·vert | \ ˈin-trə-ˌvərt \
1: one whose personality is characterized by especially
: a reserved or shy person who enjoys spending time alone
As what Merriam-Webster Dictionary says, introverts ENJOYS spending time alone. That's why, stop asking that we need to spend more time engaging with people because we enjoy our quality time alone. We are just wired that way.
Its really hard for an introvert like me to manage in engaging to our extroverted world. The world is fixed when it comes to the unwritten rule that we should interact with one another despite of our differences, languages included. We can see that our leader back on those days, who have sets up our world to be are extroverts in so many ways. But as you can see, nowadays, we have internet and communication became more artificial using the technology that we have. Most of these inventors are introverts, that's for sure.
We feel exhausted after a long interaction with people that requires us to talk in the crowd and to be friendly. Most of the introverts, learned in a hard way that we need to turn off our introverted side in order to survive. The world requires us to have a switch whether we like it or not. We can't choose our situations whether you are introvert or an extrovert. Most of people, misunderstood, our kind, they tend to think that we need help or we are undergoing thru hard times. We are not lonely, we just choose to be happy alone.
Don't worry, y'all! We have friends, a very small circle of friends, whom we can trust with all our life with. When we trust and love a person, we give it our all. We never gave that trust easily though, we are reserved and not an open book most of the time. We are really secretive on feelings, emotions or facts about ourselves although there are rarely times we can overly share to someone. We are weird. We don't even take offense when we are called like that, we take it as compliment.
Life was never easy. I know we can all relay on that note. Being misunderstood, one of the downside of being an introvert. You will be tagged as being difficult but all you want is to be alone because you are just exhausted of not being you. You are trying to cope up with the world but they would mock you when you got tired and show your true self.
I've been a "yes" person back on my high school days. If you will ask me a favor even we aren't that close, I would still say yes. All of my plans usually are cancelled due to favors they would ask me. I tend to focus on how they would like me, so, I ended up like that. I am scared to be misunderstood so, I would just go with the flow and just say "yes"
On my fourth year in high school, I realize that the friends that I made in those 4 years will be gone when I went to college. So, I learned to stand on my own. In every lesson, on my last year in high school, I have only one thought, "I should learn everything in class because if I don't know this lesson I wouldn't make it in college." I should learn to stand on my own because my friends wouldn't be there when I will get my entrance exam, they wouldn't be there when the school will interview me, they wouldn't be there because they would be busy reaching their own dreams too. So, I need to do it on my own.
