dream #1

my dream last night,
i dreamt of you.
i was swimming freely in a spring, the sky was blazing a brightened dusk, a lovely thing to see.
where i was, i didn't know.
through cascading memories, deep in water, my naked body bathed in the last rays of sunlight.
it was not until i saw you in the distance that i found myself sinking to the bottom of the pool.
i hid underneath that rippling surface, the thoughts i could not contain, i hid my body, my mind and my soul.
still, you saw me,
and knew i'd have to come up for air.
diving in, divine, dividing myself in two, you lifted me up in your arms,
you held me like a ragdoll, myself unmoving, pressed against your chest,
and then you spoke.
you asked me, 'why must you tease me like this, little bird?'
and i could not answer,
for my mind was melting ice, numb and tired, and i was gone.
but you, you were restless.
and so deeper in you brought me, to a cove behind a waterfall, to the deepest reaches of my mind where electricity flows from my head to my toes and into the ground,
and like a flower, you planted me in a bed of grass.
and like a pile of broken things we lay there unspeaking, and you sunk into me like an eclipse.
and there you told me,
'i'll be here whenever you need me. just dream. just sleep.'
