The door to the elevator opens, revealing an underground tunnel with about 40 people inside. A small green bean-like creature walks up to me and hands me a white tag.

"Hello, please stick this tag on your chest and do not lose it." He says and walks away.

I inspect the tag and see the number '22' printed on it. I glance around the room to see a few people staring at me, trying to intimidate me. I shrug it off and walk to an unoccupied spot in the area.

I rummage through my bag to see if I brought everything I needed with me, fortunately, I did. My cell phone is in my jacket pocket. I brought a small backpack so that I could keep it light.

I packed one change of clothes, some food, 3 bottles of water, and my weapons. I have 6 small knives in the utility belt around my waist for throwing, or close combat, 3 on each side. The most important thing I have on me is my staff, which is strapped to my waist. It can extend to be longer than it is right now, which is about 2 feet long. It can go up to 6 feet in length, which can be really useful.

"Hey, you look like you're new!" Says a tubby, middle-aged man who was walking towards me.

I nod my head hesitantly, "Yeah, I am."

"Ah, well I am Tonpa, nice to meet you!" He says, stretching his arm out to shake my hand.

I shake his hand and give a fake smile, his was obviously fake as well.

"This is my 35th attempt at the hunter exam, so I'm pretty much a veteran. If you have any questions, you can ask me!" He says with a proud grin.

'That's not something you should be proud of..' I think to myself.

"Anyways, are you thirsty? I brought soda!" He exclaims, reaching into his bag to grab the drinks.

"Sure, thanks!" I say with a smile.

I crack open the drink and take a whiff. It doesn't smell poisoned, but you can never be sure.

"Cheers!" I say and bump my can with his.

I bring the drink up to my mouth and notice how he hasn't taken a sip of his. I down the liquid and smirk, wiping my mouth on my sleeve. I taste the tainted drink and immediately know that he used laxatives.

"Wow, that hit the spot! Do you mind giving me another for later?" I ask.

"U-Uh sure!" He says, grabbing another can and handing it to me.

"Whatever you put in here won't affect me," I say, and walk away, sipping on the soda with a smirk on my face, leaving behind a bewildered Tonpa.

I decide to find a more peaceful place to sit and I pick a place that is a bit darker and farther away from people. It's not that I don't like socializing, it's just that I don't know who I can trust here.

More and more people begin to flood in from the elevator, and I start feeling butterflies in my stomach. I begin to grow excited. What will this journey bring? Hopefully something good.

I observe who enters the tunnel and see a few promising people who stood out.

I see a boy around my age with white hair wearing a dark blue turtle neck with a white T-shirt over it and shorts step in from the elevator. Everybody turns to glare at him but he doesn't seem to notice. He is carrying a skateboard and already looks bored. He is handed a tag with the number 99 on it.

Tonpa walks over to the kid and offers the drink. I stare at the boy in hopes of him feeling my gaze and that he'll look at me. Luckily, he meets eyes with me and I shake my head 'no' to try and tell him not to take the beverage. He looks like he understands, but ends up drinking it.

What is he, stupid or something?

He smirks in my direction as if he had read my thoughts.

He breaks eye contact and walks the opposite direction, leaving Tonpa behind.

I decide to take a nap in order to charge up for the upcoming challenges ahead. I close my eyes and rest my head against the wall.

~Time Skip~

When I open my eyes, I see that the amount of people in the room has almost quadrupled. I rub my eyes to rid them of the droopiness.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty~" I hear from next to me.

I jump into a defensive stance and observe the man with a cold stare. He looked like a clown, with a strange outfit and a star under one eye and a teardrop under the other.

"What are you're doing?" I ask, raising a brow in suspicion.

He smiles creepily and purrs, "Well there were people wanting to do bad things to you, you know how it is. You looked like you needed rest. I watched over you until you woke up~"

He's kind of creepy, but it was a kind gesture.

"Well thank you very much..." I trailed off, not knowing his name.

"Hisoka~" He replies.

"Ah, well thank you very much Hisoka-san. I really appreciate it. I'm Y/N." I say with a polite bow and smile.

"It was no problem Y/N-chan~ Well I'll be going now since you're awake." He says.

"Alright. Thanks again." I say with a smile.

I know I could have taken on almost any of these people, but it was still nice to know that Hisoka isn't an enemy.

I stretch my arms and legs and grab my bag. I decide to walk around and explore the tunnel.

I roam around and see writing on the walls.

'S+K'
'Mitsuko was here!'
'Haromi- 2005'

I decided that I wanted to write something on these walls as well. I took out a conveniently packed marker and opened the cap. I started writing the beginning of my name until I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turn around for my eyes to meet eyes with innocent brown ones. It was a boy around my age with a green jacket, green booty shorts, green boots, a backpack, and a... fishing pole?

"What are you doing?" The boy asked.

"I'm writing on the wall, it looked fun," I reply.

"May I write after you?" He asks sweetly.

"Sure!" I reply with a smile.

He is so precious I'm going to die.

"Oh yeah! I'm Gon, Gon Freecs. These are my friends Kurapika and Leorio." He introduces and gestures to the males behind him.

I meet eyes with a blonde boy no more than the age of 16, wearing a tracksuit with a tabard over it. He smiles and nods his head in recognition.

"It's a pleasure, as Gon said previously, my name is Kurapika." The blonde says formally.

Next to him is an older looking man wearing a suit and tie, holding a briefcase.

"Yo, I'm Leorio." He says.

I smile at the three people before me.

"Hello, my name is Y/N." I say with a polite bow.

I finish writing my name and a small message and then hand the marker to Gon, who proceeds to write his name and draw smiley faces around it. He then hands the marker to Kurapika, who simply signs his name next to Gon's. Kurapika gives Leorio the marker and he signs the wall and then draws a dollar bill sign next to his name.

"Well, see you around Y/N! We're going to go look around." Gon says, waving.

I wave back with a grin and turn back to the wall. I decided to draw a small doodle of myself. Once I'm finished, I put the marker down in case anybody else wants to write as well.

I find Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio in the crowd and wave.

"Hey guys!" I greet, walking up to them.

Could I trust these people?
