Will You Go To The Prom With Me?

It was a sunny spring day, where your hair blew back behind you whenever the wind blew as if it was part of the breeze. It would've been a beautiful day for anyone, but something else was on my mind. Something I couldn't shake out of my head.

 I walked across the courtyard toward the school. Cherry blossom trees loomed over the pathway. It was quiet and the sun was just setting. The prom was starting in 2 hours and I still didn't have a date. Lifting my head up, the smell of flowers filled my head with wonderful thoughts. I tried to think of an excuse of why I didn't have a date because Zelda is sure to ask me.

Maybe Fate wanted me to go by myself, I thought. That's fine.

Right?

Ugh, what am I doing wrong? I asked myself. I shook my head and sat down on a bench nearby.

Then, I saw Leo walking over to me. Leo has strawberry- blond hair just like me and he has a great sense of humor. He's pretty cute, I admit. He never runs out of jokes, but he always seems to run out of girls. He smiles at me as he walks over to the bench. I smile back. His cheeks turn a tint of pink, but I am sure it is just the sunset. His eyes, sparkling

"Don't have a date?" I ask him. 

"Nah," He replies, "I bet people would be falling all over you. Like,"-he points at me, motioning towards my dress that I spent time picking out with Zelda the other day-"who wouldn't love that? But I have someone in mind."

I laugh sadly, "You wouldn't know," that nobody has, I finished in my head.

Leo's sparkle disappeared. "Who is the lucky guy?"

"Nobody yet," I look away. What is going to happen? Will it be a cheesy romantic movie where the boy confesses to the girl? That would be weird" I thought. 

"Actually, there is a lucky guy..." I smiled. Will Leo understand what I mean?

Leo fake smiled for me. He has no idea. "Who is it?"

I paused and said, "...You..."

He cocked his head farther away from me, his eyes wide. Then, he squinted and said, "You aren't going to break up with me a second later, are you?"

Did this guy not take me seriously? "NO WAY!"

At least I have something to tell Zelda about. She is going to be so excited!!! "Charlotte?! Where are you?!" I heard a voice calling for me.

"Zelda, I have a date." She squealed to her, I bet you that you can hear her in Texas!! 

"Who is it???" She squealed.

"Leo" I whispered, so quietly that she had to lean in.

"LEO!!! OMG!!!! He is SO CUTE!! You are like TWINS. #BestCoupleEver!!" I swear the dead could hear her. 

"SHHHHHHH!!!!!!" I whisper- yelled.

"So..." Leo poped in, "Will you go the prom with me?"

"Yes," I reply.
