I wait patiently for Diego to unlock the door as I bit my fingernails, looking around at the almost molded apartment building walls and some cracked windows. "Did you plan on moving to such a shitty apartment since you were a kid?" I heard his wry chuckle, "No, not really, this is what I could afford at the time." I scoffed at his reply, "What you could afford? You live with a billionaire, and you're famous." He wiggles the keys a bit, then turned them from the left and then slightly to the right. "He never was really kind on spending his money. The only money I get is from the police department when I give them a lead or save a couple people." I roll my eyes and cross my arms, "Showoff."

He grasped the doorknob and opened the door into his apartment room. "I'm telling you, it's better in the inside. Plus, it's a little hidden, so that's a plus." I walk into the room following Diego, looking around at the posters on the walls, marks on the worn brick walls from I'm guessing throwing knives, and hung up knives above a wooden desk. "It's a little shabby, but I like it a lot. It's like a little hideout." I see a smile form on Diego's face as he nods his head as a thank you.

I picked up a knife from its holder and feel its weight on my palms. "I always wondered how to throw these things and actually have them stick on the wall." He walked over in my direction and viewed the knife in my hand. "Hey, why don't I teach you how?" I laugh under my breath, "You're different though, Diego. You can curve them with your mind, I can't." He shook his head, "No, no, I can still teach you. That's just curving, I'll teach you how to aim and properly throw it. It's more than just curving, Y/N, believe me." I chuckle, "Go ahead, knife boy. Teach me." He flashed a grin which looked like a child finding his lost toy and took a knife from the holders he was wearing on him.

"First step, you gotta do this stance." He spread his legs like he was about to do the splits and raised his arms in aiming position. I could tell it was a joke, and I laughed at him. "Nah, just kidding, I'll teach you for real. It's good for self defense." I look at him, "Knife throwing? That's the best thing to learn in self defense?" He shook his head, laughing. He then lifted his arm up, showing me him holding the knife. "This is important, you have to have the end rest on your middle knuckles, then almost pinch the knife with your index and thumb." I follow his instructions and hold the knife as he is. He nodded, smiling. "Good, now aim the knife at the wall. Really focus on what you're aiming for. Then, pull back and throw."

I do as told and point the end at where I'm aiming. I throw my arm back and the knife goes flying in a different direction than intended. Diego let out a laugh, "You let your arm curve somewhere else than what you meant. Let me help." I felt him stand behind me and wrap his arms around me, his hands controlling my arm, and his head next to mine. "You see, right there is perfect. But keep your arm stiff and your wrist loose. What you did before was the opposite of that, and that's usually how beginners start out." He moved my arm slowly, up and back to its position, making it so it's used to where it'll be when I throw it back and forth.

I keep my cheeks from turning red and clear my throat, "I think I've um..got it." I felt him breathing on my neck as he pulled away and nodded. I aim for the hole on the brick, and throw my arm back, keeping my arm stiff. I throw my wrist back out, and the knife sticks right next to the hole. Diego looked in astonishment, "WOW, beginners luck!" I smile at him. "Maybe one day I'll do better than you." He laughed, "I don't think so."

A/N: this was good until the end part lol
