"We can, we'll get bloody shot," Miranda called out in alarm as she started to hyperventilate, tears were already streaming down her cheeks. "And staying here won't?" Kate asked her, they had a bigger chance of survival behind the steel door than being stuck here in the middle of the room. The shots kept on ringing through the air, the sentence being repeated over and over again. Kate could see only two shooters currently in the main hall, but they were off in the distance where they could hear the screaming and yelling. All those people had come to the museum to have a good time, to learn and to expand their knowledge. Yet now they were being terrorised, all of them were her responsibility.
"We have to try Miranda, this museum, it's filled with people, we need to try and save some of them," she told Miranda with conviction, there was no denying that part, she would do it no matter what. Her sense of responsibility was too high to simply let this happen. She dug around for her key card clipped on her dress, it would allow them access to the door. "I think they're not in the hall anymore, we have to try," she told Miranda with a desperate shake of her head. She couldn't help but feel the horrible feeling starting in her chest from spreading through her entire body. Looking around she could see some people still alive, some who'd pretended to play dead between the death. Some who were injured, they simply needed to save all of them, there was no way out of it.
"Try to get as many people out of her as possible and into the hallway," Kate ordered her, knowing that the coast was clear and if they were to do anything, now would be the time. Jumping from behind her desk she made a run for the door with the child in her arms. She put the keycard against the pad and she heard the familiar sound. She put the child down before she made a run for the bodies littering the ground. Those who'd only been pretending she ordered to go through the door. She'd put her heels between the door in order for it to remain open so as many people as possible could make their way through it.
"Get through that door," Kate screamed at everyone, those still able to get up with injuries surprised her as well. Whether it was the adrenaline or the rush of things, most of them managed to get up or crawl to the doorway. Miranda helped most children along to the doorway as Kate started to drag two bodies at once, she slipped several times from the blood that covered the ground. but it didn't stop her at all, she needed to get them to safety and there wasn't a thing going to stop her from achieving that. She needed to save as many people as possible, even if it meant her own life. The gunman didn't seem to be near them as she heard gunshots in the distance as she continued to drag and pull on people. Some were dead, some were just too injured to make a move themselves. Somehow some of her people had made it to the door from the labs and started to help her out by taking over when she reached the door. Richard, amongst others, were running into the hall to start dragging people to the hallway as well.
They tried to get the ones still alive first, it was horrible to let the dead behind. But there wasn't a damn thing that they could do for them. And they needed to try and save the alive people, the dead wouldn't be able to be saved anyway. When a group of people started to storm into the hallway and the shots rang out after them. Kate realised they were back and it was time to close that door before they got into the labs and they killed her own employees.
"Over here," Kate screamed as she waved her hands to get the attention of the panicked people storming into the hallway. "If they come to close, close that damn door Miranda," she told her assistant still holding the door open with a glare in the direction of her people. She needed to make sure that everyone would be safe. It was a group of almost 30 people coming their way, being chased by two gunmen about 20 meters behind them. And he was killing them off as they ran for their own lives in the direction for safety. She noticed the other gunman on the first floor as he pointed his gun in the direction of the open door.
