Chapter 14: her name.

Start from the beginning

"(Y-y/n)...please." Annabeth cried out, her grey pupils shook in fear. "It's my mistak--" Annabeth gasped as she looked up at (Y/n). Her (e/c) eyes had turned a stunning shade of violet, her (h/c) hair was slowly fading out to white, her (s/c) skin had turned as white as snow and was beginning to glow a light shade of silver as if the moon was shrouding her in its light. Beautiful, but cold. Breath taking, but terrifying. A face so beautiful, she would win in a rival between Aphrodite.

(Y/n) clicked her tongue as she watched the girl before her change expression without being aware of herself. "What? Is there something on my face?" She spat, leaning down towards the prideful blond until their noses were just inches apart.

"You should see yourself right now, daughter of Athena." (Y/n) mused, crouching down as she leaned on the hilt of the stygian sword. "Where did all your big talk and pride go, huh? Down the sewers?"

Annabeth turned red with rage, oh how she wanted to kick that smug grin off her beautiful face. Her knuckles had turned white from clutching her fist but she had to control her anger or else who knows what could happen.

She turned her head to Percy, sure that he was still working on getting past the barrier, sure that he would find a way. Her breath caught when she saw his tears, tears that fell as he stared at the face of the girl before her. Recognition, regret, realisation, adoration, longing, fear. They were all written in his sea-green eyes.

Annabeth watched as he fell to the ground, his body shaking visibly. His eyes never left (Y/n)'s figure, his tears flowing almost non-stop as he tried to catch his breath.

Nico catches sight of the Son of Poseidon and yells something to the Hermes twins before running towards the black haired boy. Meanwhile, both of Percy's hands drift to his face; his fingers feeling the wet tears stained upon his cheeks. Within seconds, Nico has Percy's arm draped over his shoulder in an attempt to drag him away but Percy persists, his hand weakly reaching out to the girl before Annabeth.

His mouth moves repeatedly as Nico drags him further from the crowd and towards the exit of the Arena, hopefully to the medics. Percy's much more hysteric now, resisting the strong grip Nico has on him as he tries to return to where he was, his mouth moving in the same pattern indicating that he is shouting one word.

No, Annabeth realizes with a chill, Not a word.

It's a name. A name Annabeth knows too well. A name hidden in old textbooks. A name Percy had told her only once. A name so taboo it screams danger.

"What are you looking at?" (Y/n) asked, the violet hues in her eyes seemed to be glowing faintly.

Annabeth gulped, knowing that her next moves will be either be a key to the campers' safety or their death.

"Y-you don't scare me." She gulps out, in the most solid voice she can muster with a knife pointing at her neck.

(Y/n) hums, clearly amused but she does not open her mouth to say anything. Instead, she's waiting for her, for Annabeth to speak.

"I know you." Annabeth says, her voice stronger now. She can muster enough courage to push herself off a little off the ground, grazing her neck against the cold blade and within seconds she felt the warm trickle of blood run down her skin. "I know who you are."

"Then tell me, daughter of Athena." (Y/n)'s eyes glimmered, challenging her to say it. To shout the name knowing that she will have the upper hand. "Tell me, who am I?"  She says much more softly now.

The purple hues are definitely beginning to glow brighter, her silver hair as well reflecting the light of a moon, her skin began to sparkle as though diamonds were embedded on them. The girl before Annabeth was so entrancing, so beautiful she could stare at her forever. Her voice as warm as velvet, as soft as the wind she wanted to let it cradle her to sleep. She's almost loosing herself but she didn't care for it was so comfortable.

But it was the faint sound of hooves that brought her back to reality, reality to the danger before her. (Y/n) asked her again, "Who am I?" Her velvet voice much more pressing, but soft and smooth nonetheless.

Annabeth opens her mouth, hoping she's not wrong. Chiron arrives with Mr. D on his back, his eyes wide in fear for what's to come next but before he could stop her, she breathes out one word. One name.

A name laced with danger.

"Seraphine."
