chapter 1 : broken heart

Skylar's P.O.V
" do you even care about us, does any of this matter to you" I screamed. It was mine and Kane's one year anniversary today, and he was being an ass today too. I'm not surprised, he's been acting this way for the past four months.

Derek's told me to break up with him a few million times now and I know he's right but I just can't get myself to end it. Kane is a jerk most of the time, but when he's not, he's the most amazing person ever and when we first started dating he was never an ass. He treated me well, but Derek always tells me that Kane never treated me the way I deserved to be treated. Derek's my bestfriend, him and Alana are the most important people in my life. I couldn't ever survive without them, they make me the person I am and they're always there no matter what. Derek's recently got out of a long relationship. He was in love with this girl called Alia, unfortunately she couldn't reciprocate. Alana started dating one of my really close friends, Jake, a few weeks ago. Jake's an amazing guy, I'm so glad him and Alana are together.

" I don't understand what I did wrong, I'm sorry I forgot our one year but does it really matter that much" Kane replied, waking me from my thoughts.
" you know what, we're done" I said. I'm pretty sure he saw it coming, I mean we both did but none of us had the courage to do it until now.
" what" he questioned trying to make me look like the bad person, but we both jolly well knew it wasn't my fault.
" we should break up, this isn't working out and we both know it"
" I know, but now what"
" guess we can still be friends right?" I asked, even though I knew things wouldn't be the same I really hoped that Kane and I could stay friends.
" sure" he said, and I could see the frown on his face he was trying to hide.

A year later

" sky, get up we need to get ready, the party starts in an hour, and it's pretty far so we need to leave on time too" Alana claimed.
" I know, I know but I'd rather watch Netflix" I said.
" shut up and wear this" Alana passes me a black bikini and a white sheer top with high waisted shorts. We were supposed to go for a pool party today, Alana said it would help me move on. I mean it's about time. And I felt ready. After getting ready, we got into my car and left. Within half an hour we had reached.

We met all our friends and were just hanging out, when a guy walked in. Our eyes connected immediately and he stared at me for a good 2 minutes. I was looking into his eyes, when Alana clapped in front of my face and said " why are you so lost", "oh sorry".

I excused myself and went to get a drink when I encountered the same guy, he moved his hand forward and introduced himself " Hey, I'm shawn, nice to meet you" " Hi I'm skylar, you too" there was a comfortable silence, we just looked into each other's eyes, i felt safe.
I broke the silence and said " so shawn, how come I've never seen you around", " I recently moved here, I used to live in Toronto before" " oh Toronto's a beautiful place, but I can almost guarantee you, you're going to see a lot more beautiful here" I claimed. " I think I already have" he replied making me blush, he noticed and chuckled.
"You know I haven't really seen too much of San Francisco, and I've been looking for someone to show me around, so are you free tomorrow" asked shawn.
" I guess I am, I'd be happy to show you around"
" pick you up at 5?"
" 5 it is"
" oh and it's a date" he winked.
" I guess it is" I chuckled.

Hey guyss!! I really hope you liked the first chapter, I just wanna clear a few things up -
1. So currently Shawn is not a singer - I mean he's not famous yet.
2. They're all 16, and live in San Francisco - shawn recently moved from Canada.
I know this didn't actually happen, but it's just a story so !
3. This is my first wattpad story so I'd love feedback, and also cut me some slack 😬
4. This chapter is not as great as I would've liked but keep reading the chapters only get better :))
