"Jenna wake up. It's time for school!!"

The seven words I dreaded hearing the most on a Monday morning.

My dad wasn't the type of person to gently wake anyone out of sleep. His special move consisted of  a loud, high pitched scream and possible violent shaking of the bed frame for added terror. But, I had somehow gotten accustomed to it.

"Jesus...I'm up, "I responded still half asleep as I turned onto my other side, desperately trying to get a couple more moments of rest.

"Just a few more minutes," I groaned from beneath my blanket.

"No...Now!" my dad shouted sternly and ripped the sheets off my body.

"Ughhh....come on Dad!!!"

I was definitely up but not in the greatest of moods.

With the 2% energy that I had managed to gather, I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed to get ready for school.

I quickly showered, brushed my teeth and tied my curly hair into a messy bun, then opened my closet and just stared.

"I have no clothes... What to wear? What to wear?" I repeated to myself out loud.

"I seriously need to go shopping."

After moments of deliberation, I was able to snap myself out of my trance and decided to throw on a black tights, grey t-shirt and a white airforce. I also picked up my white hoodie because I always got cold in Math.

The maintaince guy couldn't find the remote for the unit in the classroom so it basically had been stuck on the setting of "freeze their asses off" all year.

"Let's go. Are you ready?" Dad urged impatiently just as I exited my room.

No surprise here, but he wasn't ready himself....he rarely ever was. He would always forget something behind and would delay us even more but surely in the end, I would be the one to receive all the blame for him being late for work.

Story of my life....

"I'm waiting outside," I said as I quickly packed my lunch and slung my black leather bag across my shoulders.

The car ride to school is usually silent except for the low humming of the car radio to keep us company. I didn’t really like to engage in conversations with him especially in the early morning, so I just stared out of the window until I saw the front walkway that lead up to the familiar, blue building reading "Valley High".

Valley High was situated on the border of two  main cities, both of which were on the higher end of the social  bracket but not extremely upper class. So, we had a good mix of students from many different walks of lives. But, the  majority were spoilt,  rich kids who were given brand new BMWs for their birthdays and impromptu trips to Dubai.

I was just regular. No rich Daddy or Mommy to bail me out of anything.

As I stepped out of the car, I was greeted by the school pranksters Matt and Shawn who wasted no time in effortlessly lifting me above their heads and running towards the main entrance.

"LET ME GO... Put me down Matt or I swear I'll..." I protested and then suddenly before I could finish,  I slowly felt myself being lowered.

I was on my two feet once more but this time,  suprisingly infront my locker.

"Your Highness.." they said with a bow.

"We were only escorting you to your destination for we are your knights," Shawn said with a boyish smile and utter amusement in his eyes.

"Ughh just get out of here before I ROYALLY kick your ass," I shouted and shooed them away.

The two of them were insufferable. I had no idea why they found so much joy in doing shit like that everyday. It was so corny and annoying.  I shook my head quickly to get rid of any remaining thoughts of the two idiots, and then turned to take my books out my locker for the next class.

I could hear them running down the hallway, laughing and wreaking havoc wherever they were going to next.

As, I shut the locker, I was greeted by a meek face and soft voice addressing me in what sounded like almost a whisper.

"Hey J..um...I just want you to know that I....I never said anything. You know I would never..." She stuttered but I ignored ever single word.

I just walked away.

That was something I couldn't afford to get into right now. I remembered my therapist telling me that whenever I felt quick to anger, take a break and do not engage. I repeat, Do not engage!

And that's exactly what I did today. I didn't have to look at the person to know who it was stumbling over their words.

Kim. We used to friends for a lifetime.

Okay maybe the last bit was a little dramatic but we were friends for some years. Notice I said was because that's all past tense. What she did to me was not cool bro.

Not cool at all. And I wasn't truly ready to confront her or the situation.

I made my way down the hall to my first class of the day, Geography and thankfully, there was an empty seat in the back row.

I hated this class so much. Whoever created this subject is just plain evil.

"Jenna...is my lesson boring you?" Miss Smith turned from the board to see me sitting in the back of the class clearly unimpressed.

"Ummm nooo of course not..." I fake smiled

"I'm very excited to learn about the earth's centre" I said, my words dripping with sarcasm

"Glad to hear," she responded as she continued to bore us to death for the next 20 minutes.

Sucks because I will never get that 20 minutes of my life back.

With a huge sigh, I opened my notebook and started drawing random stuff to pretend that I was actually paying attention.

As if this class couldn't get anymore annoying, the queen bee herself, Kim, strutted in late with a pretentious look of guilt on her face.

She began talking to Miss Smith giving her what seemed to be a very lengthy excuse about her tardiness.

And of course Miss Smith excused her.

I was beginning to get tired of her walking around like she owned the place. Someone needed to knock her down a few.

She quickly flashed a smile of accomplishment and took the seat right infront of mine, while trying not to make eye contact with me.

I just couldn't believe the person she had turned into...

We were once friends but I was sure now that there was no way that we could ever look past our "differences"

Not now... not ever.
