I groaned at the sound of my alarm clock going off next to me, I slowly leaned towards it my eyes still shut as I slammed my hand down on the button shutting it off. "9:00 am already" I really didn't want to open my eyes but the sun shining in through the window didn't help much anyways, I sat up slowly pushing the covers off of me and back onto the unmade bed. As I walked towards the bathroom I paused looking over at Twinkie chewing on his bone, I smiled then continued on walking into my cluttered bathroom. "What a mess, ugh" I groaned not looking forward to the day where I had to clean it all up. "Another day" I mumbled to myself trying to ignore the counter cluttered with makeup, hair products, perfume bottles, shampoos and tons of other bathroom products.

I looked into the mirror at a face I thought I had known, up until a few days ago I thought I was the same old fresh face as I used to be in college. I sighed at the now small lines beginning to form in the crease's of my eyes, crow's feet for a better term. I washed my face then dried it with a clean towel.

"I really need botox" I added aloud to myself dramatically. "I'll be 30 in just 2 days Twinks, can you believe it?" Twinkie barked "Roof Roof." "Ok never mind you didn't have to answer"

As I walked outside my apt I felt the warm sun shining down on my pale skin in NYC it was a rare occasion to have a sunny day so I never took that for granted. I smiled up at the sky admiring the fluffy white clouds above.

"Taxi!" I yelled out just as one pulled up in front of me. "East 56th Street, Callaway Spa" I always had a thing about putting my makeup on in a cab, I figured that leaves me 10 + minutes of extra sleep in the morning. I put my mascara and a small amount of light brown eye shadow, followed by Scarlet red lipstick smacking my lips together, just as the cab neared the spa "Here we are Miss that'll be $6.95" I nodded handing him $7 dollars "Keep the change" It was only five cents but oh well I shrugged as I got out of the cab grabbing my black and turquoise leather purse, and walking through the glass double doors of the spa. I looked up on the wall at the large black and green clock 9:26. "Four minutes early" I said smiling to myself as I sat down in my black rotating chair, pressing my computer button turning it on. I logged in as my background of Sydney Australia popped up along with the icons plastered over it. I sighed wishing I were there right now, laying on the beach drinking a daiquiri and watching sexy Aussies surf the beach. I Jumped hearing my Nadine's voice

"Good morning Miles"

"Morning Nadine" my chipper tone was almost unbearable for even me, I silently decided to kick it down a notch.

"Bagel?" she asked holding out a box of different bagels. "No thank you, I just finished eating" I lied, not wanting another disgusting bagel. I had no clue where she even got them from but ever since I first tried them I hated them, they tasted so stale. I shuddered at the thought. "It says here we have only 6 morning appointments, is that right?" I asked unsure, we usually had at least 8. "yes only six, slow morning I suppose" she said a slight look of disappointment on her face. "I'm sure tomorrow we'll have more" I smiled trying to be more positive. "I'm sure we will. Well I'll be off, here see if the others want a bagel" she said handing me the light orange box with the words Sniri's Bakery across it, I grabbed the box nodding. "Sure thing" I watched as she walked down the hall shutting her office door. "Eww gross, are those bagels?" Cynthia, one of the manicurists said sticking out her tongue. "Oh good im not the only one who hates them" I joked "Definitely not, no one here likes them" she laughed, as she picked up the box tossing it in a large trash can a few feet away "There let the rats have at it later" she smirked. "briiing briiing briiiinnng" I jumped a little "Callaway Spa, this is Miles speaking how may I help you?.. sure, just one moment please" I hit a button transferring the call. Cynthia waved as she disappeared down the hall. I started typing "Lisettia Don Velle" I said aloud while typing it into the appointment section. "4:00 Pm Friday" I hit enter as I glanced over looking at my cell phone sitting on top of my unzipped purse 'new text' I grabbed it checking the text, it was Ava. 'My place eight, dinner and a movie' I smiled. I really loved Ava's cooking especially her Italian 'be there' I typed back hitting send, and tossing my phone back into my purse.

"Excuse me, I have a meeting with Mrs. Nadine Terrier, I'm Shelley Preston, from the New York Times" The Dirty Blonde haired woman said extending her hand towards me. "Oh sure Mrs. Preston, I'm miles Danes, Nice to meet you, one moment please."

"Certainly." She replied back smiling, flashing her bright white teeth. "Mrs. Terrier, a Mrs. Preston is here to see you" I said into the phone.

"Show her to my office, Miles"

"Yes ma'me." I hung up the phone. "Right this way Mrs. Preston." I got up walking down the long hallway, I could hear Shelley's heels clanking behind mine as she followed my lead, I opened the door smiling "Hello, Thank you Miles" Nadine smiled waving in Shelley. I walked back down the hall alone, sitting back down at my desk, as my stomach started growling. "I almost wish I would've ate that bagel.. what am I saying, gross" I said to myself holding my stomach for a brief moment, then turning back to my computer disappearing back into my background again
