I woke up the next morning, the sun shining across my face. I peeled my eyes open to be blinded by the scorching sun, I closed my eyes rolling over to face where Penny had fallen to sleep. Opening them back up too see he wasn't there laid up next to me.
"Pen?" I asked sneering, looking around the room for him.
He was no where too be seen. I leant up yawning, stretching my arms up and over my shoulders, crossing over my back. Releasing my arms once more, I rolled too the side of my bed, walking towards my bathroom. He wasn't in there either, so I began my trek down the hallway and towards the staircase.
"Penny? Are you down here?" I shouted.
"I'm in the kitchen" He yelled back.
"I'm making us breakfast! Thought it'd perk you up for the day ahead!" His voiced followed through the kitchen and into the lounge room.
I walked into the kitchen to find him cooking up what smelt like a good meal. He pulled out some freshly made croissants from the oven, and placed them on the table. Gathering a bowl of fresh assorted berries, and two cups and a teapot.
"Your Aunt has left for work, so I thought I'd make us something" He said smiling up at me.
"And don't ask how I made those" He said pointing his finger at the tray of pastries.
"It just kind of... happened?" He said laughing in disbelief.
"Well they smell great! Let's just hope you don't poison us!" I joked laughing at him.
We sat down and enjoyed our breakfast, no one died, in fact it was all delicious! He wouldn't stop looking at me with those deep green eyes. It distracted me from eating on multiple occasions, leaving me too look up at him, and pull a face as I continued to eat.
"I'm trying to eat boy, don't look at me like that!" I giggled whiles shoving food into my mouth.
"Why? Do I make you feel uncomfortable?" He asked looking at me with a serious face.
"No, quite the opposite in fact" I chuckled, eating the last berry on my plate, licking the Nutella off of my fingers, which I had been dipping my croissant into.
We both sat there as we finished up our drinks, trading little cheeky looks back and fourth.
We both finished and went upstairs too get ready for our trip too the library. Once dressed we both walked out the door and walked down the street towards the closest bus stop. Whiles waiting we discussed possible outcomes, what we could find, how it may help, and where we could go from there. We both jumped onto the bus, walking to the middle where we sat down together. Driving by shops and monuments, old buildings dating back to the 1900's, I told him a little history of each building as we passed it.
We stopped out the front of the town hall, where the library also sat. We walked in too find a librarian sitting at the desk opposite the front door. She was typing away on her keyboard and searching the screen, before looking up at us.
"Hey there" She said looking up at us both smiling.
"May I help you with anything?" She asked.
"Well as a matter of fact, I'm looking for a book, one on the history of Derry Maine?" I enquired.
She looked at me with a questionable look.
"Oh, well, let me see if we have anything on the system" She continued, looking up and down from her computer, her gaze fixing on us.
"It's already.... out" She paused, continuing too look at the screen.
"Do you know who has borrowed it? Or at least tell us where we could find them?" I asked impatiently.
