MANNY AND BABY OVERHEARD THE queen bee of grade eight talking about her plans to start a spirit squad, and the duo desperately wanted to sign up.

Despite her usual hate for physical activity, cheer was something Baby Roberts had dabbled in before with her past experience in gymnastics. If she had to sit through years of a sport she almost grew to hate, why not use that skill to win a cute uniform and something to add to her resume?

After a bit of bickering, the two girls decided Manny would be to one to get Paige's attention in order for us to apply. She gently tapped the older girl in the shoulder, making Paige abruptly turn around, "Can I help you?"

"I'm Manny, and she's Baby. We'd like to try out." Manny smiled, nervously pointing between herself and the girl next to her

"I think she might know ours names, already." Baby whispered to her nervous friend, nodding her head in agreement anyways

"Okay, what can you do?" Paige inquired, wanting the two to show some kind of proof to help her make her decision

The blonde let Manny go first, watching her happily make her way to the end of the hallway. The Filipino girl complete two impressive cartwheels, landing back in her original position

"Nice, and you?" Paige smiled, turning to glance at the girl next to her. The blonde gave the older girl a curt nod, heading to where her friend once stood. Mustering up all of her courage, and praying to a god that her skill would pay off, Baby sprang into a front aerial and a sheep jump. Landing her stunt in the middle of a busy hallway was a bit awkward, but it's worth it to make the team.

"Ladies, sign right here." Paige excitedly concluded. The two girls squealed, before eagerly signing their way onto the team. After, we made our way to homeroom, where we watched Paige talk about Spirit Squad in the announcements

"Give me a break. Cheerleaders? Please." Emma scoffed, rolling her eyes at the TV in front of her

Her quick to judge attitude didn't make her blonde friend too happy, "I don't see a problem with it. It spreads school spirit and makes the people on the team happy, who cares?"

"It's like we're traveling back in time. Cheerleading is so over." Emma continued to ruthlessly shame the innocent sport, following her two friends out of their dismissed class

"What? Cheerleading is huge and more popular than ever." Manny argued

"So are a lot of things that are just sexist and wrong." Emma snapped back

The Roberts girl rolled her eyes at her ignorant comments, but chose to just let her continue her ramble

"How can it be sexist if there are guys?" Manny asked

"I bet the guys won't be wearing tight sweaters and mini skirts." Emma laughed to herself

"You know, girls should be comfortable wearing whatever they want. The way a girl dresses doesn't define who she is as a person, and certainly does not give people permission to assume otherwise. Besides, the outfits aren't the point of cheerleading. It's all about pepping everyone up for games, and making people happy." Baby finally snapped, sick of letting her walk of her and Manny's excitement
