My parents were arguing again.

So I decided to go out for a walk before I got involved.

I wrapped my jacket tightly around me, protecting me from the wind.

When did our family become so broken?

Was it when dad started working too much or when mom cheated?

My steps got slower as my thoughts got heavier.

I felt like I was drowning in the crowd of people, probably irritating them for being a disturbance to the traffic.

I looked up at the sky.

They wouldn't be the only ones to think of me as bothersome.

My dad hated me just for looking so much like my mother.

While my mother hated me because she envied my youth.

There was no winning in that house: everyone had issues.

I felt tears prick my eyes so I ducked my head down, embarrassed for anyone to see.

As I continued to walk on, I felt someone bump against my shoulder.

I picked up my head to realize it was golden boy. He looked at me, head tilted and eyebrows coming together as he studied me for a mini-second before he was off in the crowd.

Did he bump into me on purpose?

I turned back to look at him who carried a carton of cigarettes.

People passing by him would give him stares, disgusted that someone his age was smoking so heavily.

But I knew they weren't his poison.

His poison came in a different form.
