I'm looking down the lake, watching my reflection as I blink. I feel like I'm missing something. Is it because my mom left us for another man? It has been a week or so... I don't understand what I feel.
"Matt, come here. Sit beside me", Dad pats the empty space beside him, he was sitting on a blanket.
"Coming!", I sit beside Dad. He seems... serene?
"Dad, bakit hindi ka mukhang malungkot?", I ask.
"Matt, just because your mom left us, doesn't necessarily mean I should feel sad. I have you. You're my strength, maybe you'll understand me when you're a bit older", he pats my head.
"Dad, I'm 8 years old! I'm not 2. I can understand you... maybe?",
"Don't be silly, Matti," he pats my head, again.
"Stop it, Dad! I'm not a baby anymore."
"But you're my only son... I can't baby anyone," he says, pouting.
"Yeah right... and please, Dad, don't pout", he just shrugs.
"Dad... what if Mom comes back, will you still accept her?" I ask. My Dad seems surprised by my question.
"Hmm... Depends? Hindi ko alam. Maybe I will, maybe I won't."
10 years had passed. She came back... he accepted her.
But I didn't.
