In March of 2013, former professor Lewis Aptekar gave a plenary address on "Street children, AIDS orphans, and unprotected minors: What you read is not what you see" at the 8th Annual International Conference of Institute of Development and Social Responsibility (IRDO). The IRDO Conference took place in Maribor, Slovenia. Dr. Aptekar was invited to participate in two IsraAID seminars that same year – each focusing on Haitian community agents who assist victims of gender-based violence.
