Former San Jose State professor Lewis Aptekar is a noted academic – having taught, participated in numerous research programs and written a number of articles and books over the course of 30+ years. He once delivered a paper presentation titled "Providing mental health services to refugees: Understanding the changing roles of gender and age among the displaced in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia." This presentation took place in April of 1999. He recently resigned from his position at San Jose University's counselor education program.
