"This scarab has been off mode since it's creation, it has many data files but they've all been encoded." One of the weird looking people say to the others.
"Is there any possibility of a system reboot?" What looks like the head guy asks, moving closer to my pod.
I look at the thing in front of me in fear, it continues to stare at me. "It is possible sir, but I think the host will put up too much of a fight."
"Then do whatever you have you to get the Silver Beetle on mode. It is the only thing we have in getting Blue Beetle on mode."
The scientist walks over to the control panel and pushes a button. In a matter of seconds, waves of electricity begins to run through my body causing me to scream out in pain. I couldn't help but try and bang on the glass and try to get out. To try and get away from the pain.
A silver beetle and a blue beetle stand alone on the edge of the Reaches home world many many years ago. Their armors glistening as each other's hands find their way to each other, interlocking their fingers.
Panting I try to fight against the pain. It made everything so hard but whatever I just saw, I saw it clear as day. It looked like the blue beetle that's a superhero but the other beetle looked like my armor. I let out another scream as a wave of electricity flows through me. "This would all be over, little sister, if you would just go on mode. All the pain would disappear."
My eyes flash and suddenly I don't have control over anything, "You've mistaken me, brother. I can't go on mode so you are wasting your time. You and I both know how this will end."
My body regains body function and I start to convulse and shake as the electricity flows through me. "You put way too much faith in him, sister, he's defective. But we can and will fix that."
I could only assume the giant beetle in front of my pod was talking to the scarab on my back, but I also couldn't help but worry about who they were talking about. The host of blue beetle, whoever that may be. Maybe this blue beetle can help me, but I just have to figure out how to get out of here. If that's even possible.
The electricity torture continues but the black beetle leaves the room. Winter Dorris, I have a tactile plan of escape. You must formulate a way out of this pod.
Okay, I can do that. That is the least I can do. I put a hand on the glass and say between shakes breaths, "Please stop, I'll do whatever you want. Just please make it stop."
The scientist on the outside of the pod stops the shocks and walks over so it's standing right in front of me. It all sounded like chirping until the scarab started to translate, "You will do anything?"
"Please, just let me out of here." I cry out, trying to sound as convincing as possible. I needed to get out of this pod for the rest of this plan to work.
The pod opens and I get pulled out. The scientist pulls me over to a table and says, "Show me your scarab."
Instead of lifting up my shirt my armor materialized and I land a punch to the scientists face, knocking her out cold. Looking around the room I see no other reach scientist in the room, now I can make my escape. "Okay, now how do I get out of here?"
Go out the door and down the hallway to the end. Take a left and then a right, then you'll be in the docking bay. You'll be able to make your escape there, Winter Dorris.
Sounds easy enough, I just can't get caught by black beetle. If I do then I'm right back to square one. Moving out of the room they had me in I make my way into the hallway, wishing I was invisible. Once I'm at the end of the hallway I take a left and then a right just like my scarab informed me, but I was nearing my escape something just felt off. It seemed to easy of an escape.
Just as I was about to make my hasty escape black beetle's voice scared me, "Going somewhere little sister?"
"Yeah, as far away from you and the reach as humanly possible." I reply making it sound as snarky as possible, scarabs request. I guess it must hate the reach, I couldn't help but wonder why.
His hands turn into giant black blades and mine mimic his and he runs at me. I block his attack but barely. I throw his blades off mine and try to swing them at him as an attack. I've never fought anyone before, I always try to stop or avoid this kind of stuff. I'm totally freaking out right now. The only thing on my mind right now is survival.
His blades disappear and he asks, "Dear sister, why must you fight against us?"
I feel my eyes flash, "Because you've ruined so many innocent civilizations and it stops now. I will find blue beetle and together with his allies we will take you down."
Winter Dorris, you need to make your escape now before you are recapture.
Looking around I try and find my escape route out. I spot a hole near me and take off running towards it. Jumping through the hole my wing extend and use my rockets to fly away from the ship. I honestly don't know how I managed to escape black beetle. Maybe he was expecting me to put up more of a fight or something and when I escaped it caught him off guard.
You are very lucky to have escaped black beetle. In the past, his encounters with my other hosts haven't been pleasant.
That's nice. That is just wonderful. I'll add that to the list of every growing problem the Reach is giving me. Wait what time is?
It is 3:38 P.M.
Oh my god my Deana!
Kicking it into high gear I fly a couple of blocks away from my sisters' school and land in an alleyway. When it's clear I make my armor disappear and take off running towards her school. What if the reach came to get her to use against me?
I finally make it there in time and I see her waiting for me. "I am so sorry I'm late, I...got a little caught up..."
If you take being held captive by aliens is even remotely close to being "caught up". On the way home Deana's question caught me completely off guard, "Winnie do you work today?"
Crap, I do work today. My shift starts at four actually. I totally forgot about it. I mean I guess that tends to happen when you get tortured. "Yeah, come on. I don't want to be late."
Even after today's events, I don't even feel like going to work but I have to keep up appearances. No one can know what happened. Not my family, not my coworkers, no one.
