I shrug on my sweatshirt and plug in my earbuds into my phone.
I play a k-pop playlist on Pandora.
Humming to the rythym of the music, I close my door and head downstairs.
I walk past the kitchen and pause. Yelling...
They're at it again...
I sigh, slipping on my Levis and slip out of the door, not wanting to listen to my parents' arguing anymore.
I don't know why they are arguing, but they've been at it for a couple of weeks now. All ever since my older brother, Asher has been coming home later and later.
Knowing him, he's probably with some slut again...
I walk down the driveway and take a left.
Jogging (or walking), is the only thing that I can do to take my mind off of things for a while.
I stop at a stoplight and pull out my phone.
I'm scrolling through my Webtoon stories when I hear tires screeching. I look up to see a car turning the corner of the block.
Seriously? They're doing a drag race? Here? In a neighborhood...?
What the fuck?!
Wouldn't it be easier for them to get caught. I mean, of course someone would notice this right?
A black sports car zips past me and I get a clear look at the driver.
Uhmm..., hold on.
I blink and I stare at the black car.
W-was that Asher? Is this why he's been coming home late?
The car skids to a stop and does a 180°, then it drives towards my direction. It stops once it's in front of me.
The window on the drivers side rolls down and I go into a shock state.
Oh my god. You have to be fucking kidding me. Please tell me this isn't real, please tell me it isn't real!!
I continue to stare at the driver, or should I say my brother, with wide eyes.
"This is where you go every night!? You go illegal racing?!" I yell straight at his face, not caring that he isn't going to yell back at me.
Don't cry, Ava. Please don't cry; I am begging you!! Don't do it!
My brother seems taken aback. The expression on his face screams hurt. "Please don't tell them, sis..."
Stop it! Don't you dare cry on me now, Ava. You know that you'll regret it; especially if you cry now!
Before I can say anything else, a dark red car appears at the end of the street. The car's engine roars before it starts speeding towards us. I look back at Asher and his face is mixed with anger and worry.
"Get in the car Ava," Asher says.
The other car is speeding up for every meter or so.

JugendliteraturI walk up the steps, hoping that he isn't behind me. Of course knowing him, he'll definitely follow me. I gasp in surprise when he suddenly darts for my hand. "Please," he whispers. "I am so sorry." He takes a step up; and then another. We're the sa...
