A newborn angel was in his mother's arms. But it wasn't any angel, it was a fallen angel. His tiny angel wings had demon horns. He had a halo and little demon horns sticking out of his head. He was a half-angel, half-demon hybrid.
"Oh, he's beautiful," His angel mother, Eliza, said. His demon father Alex, standing beside Eliza, smiled and nodded.
"He's precious, Liz," Alex said, looking down at his son. The baby opened his eyes and stared at his parents curiously.
"What should we name him?" Alex asked Eliza, wanting her to pick the name. Eliza thought for a moment, trying to come up with the perfect name.
"How about...Philip?" Eliza finally said. Alex's eyes lit up when he heard the name.
"That's perfect!" He grinned. He looked down at Philip again. "That's your name, Philip. You like it?"
Philip gave a small smile and giggled. Alex chuckled softly. Eliza let Alex hold Philip in his arms. He cuddled Philip. Philip was flailing his arms around, giggling. Eliza kissed him on the cheek.
Alex's eyes suddenly darkened. "I love Philip...but we can't keep him here...it's dangerous."
Eliza's smile faded away. "I-I know..."
Alex looked down at the ground. "What will we do with him? Obviously, none of us can keep him..." He sort of wished he could've been an angel like Eliza so they could be together. And care for Philip, too. But instead he had to stick with being a demon. He knew demons were absolutely not allowed to be in a relationship with angels. He and Eliza's relationship was basically forbidden love.
"There's only one way to keep him safe," Alex spoke up. "We'll have to send him down to Earth. He'll be raised as a human."
"We'll have to do that," Eliza said. "If that's the only way then...we're doing it. I only want the best for Philip."
"So do I. But where on Earth do we put Philip? We can't just leave him out in the middle of nowhere," Alex said.
"I know a foster neighborhood in New York City, I think." Eliza answered. "There's plenty of foster homes. We'll put Philip in a basket and leave him at the neighborhood. I'm sure that they will take good care of him."
"That can work," Alex muttered. "Alright. I suppose we can do that."
"N-now what?" Eliza asked, when there was nothing to say.
"We-we'll have to take him to Earth right now. We don't have much time, we have to go back soon." Alex told her.
"Y-you're right..." Eliza said quietly, and got up.
Alex set Philip down in the basket Eliza brought out. "Wait," She said, before putting a necklace around Philip's neck. The necklace was heart shaped and it had "Philip" on it. "So people know his name."
"Perfect, Liz," Alex tucked Philip in sheets of soft white blankets so he was comfortable. Philip was already sleeping peacefully. Alex picked up the basket with Philip. "Now, let's go to the Light to Earth."
Alex and Eliza walked quietly together through a beautiful forest, not wanting to make a sound in case someone was there. They tried not to step on any plants or sticks on the ground. Up ahead was a bright light floating in the air, basically a portal to Earth. Alex and Eliza hid behind a big tree, and peeked their heads out to see if there was anyone nearby. There was nothing. "I think the coast is clear. We can go." Alex said. Eliza nodded. She followed Alex to the Light to Earth.
They both finally got there. Alex and Eliza were standing in front of the Light to Earth, staring nervously at it. Philip was still asleep in his basket Alex was holding. The portal was glowing brightly, practically blinding Alex and Eliza. It was huge, bigger than an average tree. Alex glanced at Eliza. "You ready?"
"Y-yes..." Eliza said. She took a breath and closed her eyes before stepping into the portal with Alex. Once she opened them, she felt herself falling through the air and saw yellow rays of light leading to Earth. The sky was a dark blue. She and Alex were traveling inside the light rays. Eliza was a bit terrified as she fell, afraid she might fall out of the light. But it kept her inside and protected.
She and Alex entered the Earth, now in the light blue sky with puffy white clouds. They made holes in the clouds as they fell through them. Alex tried keeping the basket he was holding upside-up, so Philip wouldn't fall out of it. They were getting closer to the ground. Once they were a few feet above it, they slowly brought themselves down, perfectly landing on their feet.
They were standing on land with soft green grass and trees and buildings all around. Eliza guessed they were in New York City, where they were supposed to be.
"We're here..." Eliza said out loud, looking around. Her eyes sparkled. She hadn't been on Earth in a very long time. The city was very beautiful.
"Where's the neighborhood you were talking about?" Alex asked, glancing around. Eliza ran a few feet ahead, seeing a group of houses forming kind of like a U shape. She recognized it. She remembered when an orphanage she worked at used to be here when she was still alive on Earth, but then it was replaced with a foster neighborhood since orphanages didn't exist in the United States anymore. "Over here!" She called Alex.
Alex ran to where Eliza was, staring at the neighborhood in front of him. "So, where do we put Philip at?"
Eliza thought for a moment. "We'll just leave it at a random house, I guess." She looked around and ran towards a house. She walked up the front steps once she got there, with Alex following her.
"Do you think anyone will spot us?" Eliza hesitantly asked. Alex shook his head. "We're spirits, and we're invisible to humans." He told her.
"Ah, okay." Eliza nodded. Alex set the basket with Philip down in front of the
"Philip's still invisible, we gotta make him so humans see him." Alex said, holding out a pile of sparkly dust and sprinkling it all over Philip. Philip did a little sneeze and went back to sleep. His wings, halo, and demon horns were not on him anymore. He was also not sparkly and glowing anymore, like angels were. He looked just like a regular human. Eliza looked at him curiously. "Wait, where did you get all that?" She asked Alex.
"Uh, I have my ways," Alex shrugged. Eliza could tell it was a long story and probably hard to explain.
"Our work here is done. We have to go now before, I don't know, something happens." Alex said. Eliza hesitated, she didn't want to leave just yet. "Let's say our goodbyes to our precious son before we leave, alright?" She asked.
"Well, yes." Alex blinked looked down at Philip, gazing at him for a long time. He didn't want to leave his son. "Goodbye, Philip. I know you'll be a talented young boy, I know you will. I'll always be proud of you." He hugged Philip tightly for a long time. "Good luck..." He looked at Philip one last time before getting up to go back to the spirit world.
Eliza felt herself tearing up. She tried to not let the tears come out. She kissed Philip on the cheek. "I'll be watching over you. I love you very much. You'll always be our son, Philip. Goodbye, my little one..."
