Lucia made dinner tonight, and it wasn't half bad! It's been a year since I returned to Skyrim, and so much has changed. Where do I even begin? I learned I was Dragonborn, which has been a curse more than anything. I became Thane of Whiterun and worked extremely hard to afford a home here, a home I'm proud of, even if I'll have to leave it soon. I took in Lucia, which has been perhaps one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had no intentions on being a father figure any time soon, it just wasn't something I felt ready for. I had been telling myself, ever since I took her in, that I would find somewhere safe for her. I suppose I can admit to myself now that I've fully accepted my role. The thought of sending her away hurts my heart.
Oh, and I became the Harbinger of the Companions, even though it came at a terrible cost that I still blame myself for. All in all, it's been quite a year. I'm happy to have people I care about that I could spend this day with. I even wept a bit when Lucia hugged me and said she loved me. Who have I become? The me that had left Skyrim in pursuit for a simple, easy life wouldn't even recognize me now.
Anyway, I have to leave tomorrow for a job up near Windhelm, but Lucia wants to make us breakfast before I leave. She made me promise to wake her if she's not up when I wake. Sometimes I wish I could bring her with me on jobs, but that's a ludicrous idea, it's far too dangerous. It just gets lonely when I'm gone for too long. She has been expressing an interest in learning how to use the sword. I'll have to keep an eye out for a practice sword of sorts.
