When they arrived, it was Sherlock who noticed Lestrade, Molly, Mary and Irene from outside the ice skating arena. Sherlock looked to John, the smile growing on his face until he couldn't see out his eyes.

"Ice skating?" Sherlock asked, beaming. John nodded, taking Sherlocks gloved hand in his and walking quickly towards the building. John had never seen him so exited. He couldn't help but kiss his thin cheek. He was adorable.

"Ever been before?" John asked. Sherlock shook his head eagerly pulling on John's hand to make him walk faster. "Slow down! These are stubby hobbit legs." John laughed, gesturing to his short legs. "Plus I'm carrying three." He reminded him.

"Use your magical hobbit powers to zoom up this hill then!" Sherlock sighed impatiently.

"Did you even read the hobbit?" John laughed.

"Dull." Sherlock simply responded. John rolled his eyes.

As they finally got to their friends, Sherlock's excitement turned to nerves. "What if I fall? What if I embarrass myself?" Sherlock muttered to himself as they approached the hut where you could hire skates.

"Hi Sherlock!" Molly said, her usual smile on her pretty face. "If you're as good at this as you are at dancing then..."

"You dance?" John asked, his face a mischievous grin.

"Not rea..." Sherlock began.

"Oh my gosh he's amazing! Ballet, he taught me loads of stuff! He never told you?" Molly finished.

"No." John smirked. Oh the hours of fun he could have with this new information.

"The more you know." Sherlock said, dragging John up to the skate hire.

Sherlock stepped onto the ice and at once fell flat on his face. Making John giggle as he helped him up. "Long strides, Sherlock." He said. Greg stepped onto the ice and wobbled, but stayed on his feet. Molly, on the other hand, glided on gracefully, taking a similarly graceful Irene by the hand. She could jump and go backwards as Greg and Mary watched as they stumbled along, enviously.

"They're good." John commented, holding Sherlocks hand. Sherlock grunted.

"I'm better." He said, letting go of his John's hand and picking up pace. John watched in awe as Sherlock jumped and spun around three times before landing. Everyone on the rink watched, amazed and Sherlock slowly skated back to John and resumed the normal holding hands stance. John was gobsmacked.

"Damn..." John said, his eyebrows raised. "I thought you'd never been before." He felt a little disappointed, though he could not figure out why.

"I haven't." Sherlock said. "It's like slippery dancing." John giggled at this.

"What's with that as well?" John asked, his brow furrowed. "You never told me about the ballet."

Sherlock blushed a snowy crimson. "It's not important." He said, making John glide faster, pulling on his hand.

"Yeah, yeah it is!" John said. "You need to teach me." He giggled. Sherlock looked confused. Then he smiled. He spun John around so they were face to to face, John moving backwards. "You don't seem to realise how sexy this is." John said, pressing his head against Sherlocks chest. Sherlock smiled weakly.

An attractive looking guy, dark brown hair, inquisitive dark eyes, what most girls would describe as 'hot', appeared out of no where, knocking Sherlock to his feet, John landing next to them, both laughing hysterically. Sherlock got up and offered his hand to John, but found the dark man had already done so. Sherlock frowned as John looked up to the man with a kindly smile on his face. "Sorry mate!" The man said with an Australian accent. "Hey, you're John Watson aren't you! I'm in love with your blog! The names Alex." He said, pulling John gently to his feet. Sherlock raised his eyebrows.

"Thanks Alex." John said, going in for a handshake and being pulled into a hug. Sherlock's eyes bulged out of his head. Did this guy...? Did he just...? What?

"You must be Sherlock!" Alex turned to Sherlock with a smile, that decreased when he saw the irritated look on Sherlocks face. Sherlock nodded once. "Oh, cool. Your very talented." Alex said dryly. He turned back to John. "Have my number." He said, John looked at him, confused. "No! No, nothing like that." Sherlock looked at the man with pure hatred in his eyes. Sensing this, Alex smiled once more at John and merely said, "I'll be in touch." Very quietly, so as Sherlock couldn't hear. He skated away with a wink.

"What just happened?" John asked. Sherlock took a button off his sleeve and threw it at the floor, it skidded under Alex's skate, causing him to slip and hit his head. "Sherlock!" John said, half giggling.

"What a dick." Sherlock said, bitterly.

"Maybe he didn't know I was with you." John suggested. Sherlock laughed coldly. "Okay! Okay you don't have to go all super deducer on me." John said, taking his boyfriends hand and beginning to skate again.

"It's not anything complex. It's just YOU'RE ALMOST SIX MONTHS PREGNANT AND I DON'T KNOW THE WAY I WAS HOLDING YOU WHEN HE KNOCKED US OVER." Sherlock said loudly.

"Calm." John said, squeezing his Sherlocks hand. "Calm down, he's a loser." John said. Alex wasn't a loser though. He seemed like an interesting guy to John. Not a possible love interest at all; maybe a friend.

"Don't." Sherlock winced. "Don't lie to me. I know you want to talk to him."

"No, I don't." John insisted. Which was true, at that moment, all he wanted to do was hold Sherlock in his arms. His wish came true as they stumbled over the button Sherlock hand thrown. Landing on all fours, the boys laughed as they sat on the ice, people whizzing past. Sherlock crawled over to John. "Happy birthday." John said, placing his lips on Sherlocks, moving his hands from Sherlocks loose curls to his hips, kissing his boyfriend within an inch of his life.

"I'm happy." Sherlock announced, getting to his feet.

"You won't be if you don't get back down here and finish what I started." John threatened.

"Anything for the hobbit." Sherlock said, with a smile.
