The next morning, it was Chi's turn to be in control of the body. She was somewhat impressed with how quickly Zeldris noticed she wasn't her twin. But it's not like she was trying to hide it. While Mera acted warmly towards Zeldris, Chi was significantly cooler towards him. Chi didn't trust Zeldris. Her sister seemed to, but she always saw the best in people and it had almost gotten them killed more than once.

How many assassins had Mera let into the palace in her kindness? How had they repaid her?

Chi wasn't one to criticize her twin out loud, but she found that Mera was too kind for her world and too kind for this one too. And to make matters worse, all of both of their memories had been shared with Zeldris. Mera's memories from while Chi was in charge were no doubt strange to the demon, as they were made by someone watching as someone else controlled a shared body, but Zeldris still had the memories and Chi didn't particularly like it. She kept looking for an excuse to leave politely.

"Don't feel obligated to stay if you don't want to," said Zeldris.

"I'll be out of here shortly. I should be getting back to my ship."

"You're leaving so soon?"
"You know from the memory ceremony that I have responsibilities waiting for me."

"I'll accompany you."

"You have your own responsibilities here. My sister is the diplomatic healer. But I am the warrior. There's no need for any concern."

Chimera turned and left. She had one goal in mind. Find Melascula and Galand, kill them, and go home. It seemed like a lot to do in a day, but she had a little help from a scanner she kept in her pocket. She stared out at the mountains in the distance and switched it on. The dark green energies of the demons showed up black on the screen. There were two in the mountain range along with one that showed up brighter than any other dot she'd ever seen on screen.

"Can we see what that is?" Mera asked.

"If the demons go near it."

Chimera pressed a button on the scanner and it transformed into an antigravity pulse engine with a seat and a screen. She sat and pressed the launch button. The vehicle revved as the air jets warmed up and pulsed waves of energized air underneath the chair. It finally started floating and Chimera drove towards the mountain range, towards the demons and towards the weird energy signature.
