Elliot's POV

Walking home, it's the same. Nothing new, cars driving past not taking notice of their surroundings.

Not noticing how broken the world is.

How broken I am.

When they stop at a red light, some people will look around, and send a small smile to others glancing their way. Whilst others swiftly pick up their phone to text or call.

Whether it be their loved ones or a friend. I won't lie sometimes I get jealous, jealous of how they have a happy life, and I don't.

I have some good memories with my parents though, like the time, I was around 6 or so and my parents took me to the park in our neighborhood. My dad pushed me on the swings and mom watched me go down the slide.

But that all ended when my father hit me (well slapped), everything became tense, and those moments were gone.

Realizing I made it to my house, hesitantly I turn the knob and walk inside.

"You don't know how to do anything right do you!" Is the first thing I hear as I walk in, definitely not the ideal way to be welcomed home.

Dad was yelling at mom, once again.

"What do you want me to do? I wasn't even finished!" She says back, calmly, her voice raising slightly.

Next thing you know, I see my dad, my own flesh and blood. Practically punch my mother, and considering I was standing behind him I couldn't see where.

She took a step back in shock, and she looked up at him, and she looked as if she couldn't even recognize him. That makes the both of us.

Noticing me behind him, she puts on a fake smile. "Hey honey," she says, and he stares at me before walking towards the door, shoving me slightly.

Ignoring him, I wave at her, not bothering to speak. "You hungry?" She asks walking to the kitchen. "A little bit," I half smile, following behind her.

"How'd your day go?" She asks bending over to grab a pan from the bottom cabinets, I could see her wince.

He hit her ribs..

"Mom?" I ask and she hums, making her way to the stove.

"Yes?"

"Are you ok?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be." Her voice falters a bit.

"Don't lie to me, I saw him."

"I'm fine Eli, and before you bother asking, it was my side he hurt, probably bruising my ribs. I'll be fine." She tells me, as she finishes her voice became quieter, I could barely hear that last sentence.

Though I think it was more for herself to hear.

I hum, nodding in response a frown etched onto my face. She doesn't deserve this.

"So how was school?" She asks changing the subject, "it was good," I guess.

"That's good," she smiles warmly placing a grilled cheese in front of me, her hazel eyes showing the truth, she's hurting. Staying silent, I mutter a thank you, and eat quietly.

"I'm gonna go lay down, so if you need me I'm in my room." She stated before slowly making her way upstairs, to her and my dads room.

And walking up the stairs to my room, I realize we're just another broken family, in the broken world.

So what'd you think?

I've realized that I always add something deep in each chapter, so I'm not sure what to think on that.

But I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Feel free to vote and comment!
