Why now?

    Marinette lived a pretty normal life. She did whatever she wanted. She didn't believe that time is not only the ticking sound of the clock, but it is also something more powerful than that. Her parents tried to explain to her how time can turn lives upside down, but with no use. She always ends up the conversation by joking about it and saying 'don't worry. I'm lucky enough to escape time's evil plans' and an ear to ear smile.

      Adrien, Marinette's boyfriend, had the same mind as Marinette, that's how they first knew each other. But the difference is that Adrien, in some way, is mature. He knew how time can wreck the life of a person and how time could fix it by experiencing the death of his mother. Little by little, Marinette was influenced by his maturity but still didn't care much about time, believing that she is lucky enough to survive. That's their lives.

      One day, Adrien took Marinette on a date in a very luxurious restaurant. He prepared a very special surprise just for her. He walked her to a table near the railing of the restaurant's balcony. He grabbed her seat and gestured her to sit down. He walked to his seat and sat down. " Adrien why didn't you tell me that you're taking me here. I should have at least dressed up better than now" Marinette said in a whiny voice. " I didn't tell you because I wanted you to be who you are not dressing up just because it is a luxurious place. That's why I like you, for being yourself" Adrien said in a loving tone then shoot Marinette with his handsome pearly smile.

        Marinette couldn't be angry with him for not telling her, especially after that smile. 'That smile always makes me forget what I was angry about. That cute and adorable smile of his' she thought to herself or that was what she thought. Adrien chuckled then said " thanks for complimenting my smile. You too have an adorable smile". Marinette snapped out is her thoughts then said " wait, did I just said that out loud?" "Yep" he said popping the letter "p" while trying to tease her. Her face turned into a tomato. She blushed so hard that cause Adrien to start giggling. " I hate you," she said out of embarrassment. " I love you too, Marinette" a wide grin plastered on his face. Finally, he stopped teasing her because lunch arrived.

    Their lunch was full of narrating some embarrassing moments they had as kids, which they had enjoyed a lot. Everything was going just as Adrien planned until Marinette's parents called. Marinette knew they never called her when she is with Adrien unless it is an absolutely important thing that they must tell her. Marinette picked up her phone as she excused herself.

     " Hey, mom, what's wron-" "Marinette " Sabine, Marinette's mom, said. 'She must be deadly serious, she never used my name unless it is something extremely important and serious' Marinette thought. " you need to be here now" Sabine demanded. "but mom...." Marinette tried to protest only to be again cut by her mom. " no buts. I'll be expecting you in 30 minutes." With that, the line went died.

      Marinette places her phone back in her pocket then sighed. 'Adrien won't like this' she thought. She walked back to the table they were sitting at before only to see Adrien's face full of worry. " what happened? You don't seem alright." Adrien asked. I sighed again then said " I need to leave. Mom wants me to go back home right now. It's okay we can meet again in an hour or two or maybe tomorrow. It's not like the time will fly or something. I'm sorry" I apologize as I stood up and got my bag. " I'll drive you home." Adrien said as he collected his things. " no, no need. You know that I'm a tough girl, right?"  " Marinette, being a tough girl is a thing and going home when the sun has set is another thing so I'm going to drive you whether you like it or not"  'It wasn't even night yet it was about 5:00' Marinette thought " okay okay, mom. Geez " Marinette said. She knows that Adrien sometimes gets overprotective and starts scolding her as if he was her mom. And when that happens, she knows that she should surrender.

    Adrien drove her home then wait outside until he was sure she was completely safe. He reached for something in his pocket then said " I'll do it later but not now maybe after an hour or so but it has to be tonight" he said to himself. After that, he drove off to his apartment.

    Meanwhile, Marinette entered her home to find her parents sitting with three strangers. Tom, Marinette's father, said " there you are I've been waiting for you" he grabbed her then introduced her to the 'stranger' " everyone this is my daughter,  Marinette " gesturing to Marinette then he continued as he gestured at them" Marinette, this is Mr. William, Mrs. William, and Jason, your future husband."
" What??!?" I shouted in surprise as angry started to boil in her. Sabine led Marinette out of the living room then said " Marinette look, he is going to be your husband. You don't know how important it is for our company. You need to marry him."
" but I don't even know him, plus I already love Adrien and I'm not planning on leaving him just to marry that stranger" " but you will marry him whether you liked it or not. Now we're going in and you are going to respect them. End of discussion"

   She started to tear up. She was forced to accept this. I followed mom back in and sat beside her only to notice that Jason walking towards me then kneel to reach my hand. He took out a ring from his pocket and slid it on my ring finger then kissed the top of my hand. He then said "my precious fiancée, Marinette Williams, I love you" I didn't respond. The Williams stood up then Mr. Williams said "it was a pleasure to meet you all especially you, Marinette. It is our pleasure for a lady like Marinette to join our family"         " the pleasure is all ours Mr. Williams" "please call me jack okay. Good night Mr. and Mrs. Du pain Cheng " "good night" with that they left. 'I need to tell Adrien ' Marinette thought. Her phone started ringing. She picked up her phone and checked the I.D. Adrien was calling. She took a deep breath as she answered the call "hello, Adrien I..."  "I'm waiting for you at the park near your home" "but I..." "I'm waiting for you. Bye."Then the line went dead. Marinette had no choice. she got her shoe and headed out. "where are you going?"Sabine asked "I'm going to the park, I'll be back in an hour, okay"

               Marinette rushed to the park to meet Adrien. She needed to tell him what was going on. She needed to listen to his advice. She needed someone to comfort her. She reached the park and started to look for Adrien. Once she found him, she speed-walked towards him. "Adrien, I need t..." "shh, Mari I swore I to tell you as soon as I saw you" I watched him as he kneeled, in proposing style, making eye contact. "Marinette would you make me the happiest man alive." he said gently. "what are you doing?" Marinette  said in confusion. Adrien continued "will you, Marinette dupain cheng, marry me?" Marinette couldn't hold her tears anymore. She didn't know that one hour would change her life like that. Two hours ago she was on a date with the man she loved. The only thing that she could say as tears streamed down her face was "why now?"
