"What happened?" Glen asked, jumping up when he heard a crying Arthur being carried in by Luke. "He fell over the pavers." Luke explained as Kate dried her hands and pulled out the first aid kit from the kitchen cabinets.
"It's bleeding pretty heavily, we should go to the A&E." Glen told her as Kate joined him at his side. "he'll be fine." Kate told him, this wasn't the first scrapped knee or bruise, Arthur had a tendency to get over enthusiastic and sometimes it ended with a bloody knee or elbow.
"that stings." Arthur said, pushing the box away as she gave him a warning look. "It'll only be for a moment." she told him as she sat down on the ground in front of him. When she wiped away the blood, she knew that her simple first aid kit wouldn't cut it as she pulled out her phone from her back pocket. She didn't fancy a visit to the A&E and Tim had done several things of this. The GP of the Royal family did have its perks.
"Does it need stitches?" Luke asked in a bit of scared tone. The last thing he wanted was for Kate to be angry at him for injuring his smaller brother. He'd just been happy to be seeing him again and be playing with him again that he hadn't noticed the pavers stacked where Arthur had fallen on top off. "Probably." Kate told him with a reassuring tone as she held the phone between her hear and shoulder.
"Hey Tim am I interrupting?" Kate asked him as she heard him answer the phone. "You never." she heard Tim's flirty tone tell her, 'oh this would be fun' she thought to herself.
"Arthur slipped over a couple of pavers in the garden and I think his knee will need some stitches." Kate told him as she put the towel back on his knee whilst trying to comfort her son as she pulled him in her lap. "I'll be there in ten minutes." Tim reassured her as she thanked him.
"Shouldn't we bring him to the A&E?" Gary, Glen's dad asked her as she moved to sit on the couch as Arthur was getting a down from the adrenaline as she wiped his tears away. "Tim will stitch it up. He's our GP, knowing Arthur he'll be more comfortable with him than some random A&E doctor." she explained in a knowing tone as she rocked her son in her arms as Glen sat down on his other side.
"Luke it's alright, he's a little over enthusiast sometimes. It isn't the first time he's got a bruise or scrape and it won't be the last." she assured Glen's other son as he sat down opposite of her on the couch. "You're not angry?" he asked her as Kate let out a snort whilst shaking her head.
"Why would I be?" She asked him as she rubbed her hand up and down his arm as she put Fireman Sam on the TV, knowing it would distract Arthur a little as he snuggled into her chest with a shuddering breath as he calmed down. "Cause Arthur is hurt." Luke pointed out as Kate gave him a reassuring smile.
"I have no reason to be angry and I'd be pretty stupid to be so. Don't worry about it." she assured him when Glen gave her a small smile. Wanting to comfort his son as well, Arthur seemed to want his mum though as he cuddled his comfort blanket against him. It was moments like this that he noticed how used Kate was to doing things alone. She'd taken charge of it like she usually would have and held their son against her chest.
"He's fine Glen." She assured him, giving his shoulder a small nudge with her own shoulder seeing as she couldn't use her hand. Her one held the towel against his knee, the other was rubbing some comfort in her son. "Still." Glen said with some doubt as he looked at the bloodied towel. Someone let Tim in when he knocked on the door. "Hey bud." Tim greeted her son, he was the Royal GP, but hers as well as he sat down in front of her and Arthur.
She noticed the glance in his eye when she introduced Glen as Arthur's dad and as her boyfriend for now. "Thanks Catherine for trying to set me up with him before." she thought to herself as Tim seemed to regain his composure whilst stitching Arthur up and taking care of him.
