Chapter 1 - Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Hermione...

FINALLY! It is September 19th, my birthday. I am 16 today. I am SOOOOOOOO happy. I hopped out of bed, brushed my teeth, put on a black dress, put on some black flats, and went to the mirror to brush my hair when I suddenly dropped the brush I was holding and ran downstairs without even pausing to look at myself properly. I bolted down the stairs and called my Mum and Dad. "MUM!!!" "DAD!!!" I yelled through the house. "We're in the loungeroom honey." My mother said. "Oh, Mum, Dad, what is happening to me?!?!?!" I practically yelled. "Hermione, I think it is time we told you the truth." My mother whispers.  "The truth, about what?!" I hollered. This time my father spoke. "Well, Hermione, you ... you're ... not actually our child. You see, when you were about 2 years old, a man came and asked us to look after you. Naturally, we said OK, and so, here you are now." My father explained. I sat down and thought about it all. I still had so many questions. "Why did you say yes?" I asked my 'parents'. "Well, you see, this man is Albus Dumbledore, with whom we are friends through a colleague at work asked us to look after you. We felt like we had to say yes. You were just so cute, and also we had always wanted a child of our own. Dumbledore told us to keep you safe, and to not tell you of your real family until you underwent your transformation. So, here we are now after 14 years." My father said. "Who are my parents?" I asked. "Well... Are you sure you want to know?" My father asked. Just as I was about to answer, there was a tap on the door. I opened the door and saw two letters, one with my Hogwarts letter, and the other with the ministry seal on it. I knew what the Hogwarts letter would have. I sat back down on the couch and opened the letter from the Ministry. The letter read:

Dear Miss Granger,

We have sent you this letter to notify you of your real family. This may come as a shock to you, but you are not a Granger. You are a Lestrange. Your Mother is Bellatrix Lestrange, your Father is Rudolphus Lestrange, your Aunt is Narcissa Malfoy, your Uncle is Lucius Malfoy, your cousin is Draco Malfoy, your Godmother is Narcissa Malfoy, and, your Godfather is Severus Snape. We are aware that you need to return to Hogwarts, so, we think that it will be much better for you if you were to wear a glamour charm.

After I read the letter, I re-read the letter, paled, and promptly blacked out. I woke up a few hours later, and got out of my bed and walked down the stairs and sat back on the couch and read my Hogwarts letter.

Dear Miss Granger,

We are pleased to welcome you to return to Hogwarts for your sixth year. We hope you enjoy your fifth year at Hogwarts.

Here is the list of books that you will need for your fifth year at Hogwarts:

- A Guide To Advanced Transfiguration by Emeric Switch

- Please retain other things such as potions items, wands and uniform requirements from previous years. 

We are looking forward to seeing you again. Term starts on September 1.

I went upstairs and packed my trunk to be ready to go and stay with Harry and the Weasleys for the for the rest of the holidays before school started again.
