LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT LOSS
It is the dead silence
It is the ringing in your ears
It is the initial confusion when you are told
Before that, it is the feeling of what is to come
The subconscious remembrance of that person
Just before you push the thought from your mind
It is the breaking of your heart,
And
The what if's
It is the hot tears
The taste of salt and the uneven streams down your face
The peppery sting in your eyes
And the repeated breaking of your heart
It is the loneliness
And,
It is the emptiness
