Noone's pov.

Miriam flew at the edge of a cliff somewhere in southern Africa. This is where the most beautiful sunsets were.

Miriam quietly sat on the edge, one leg over it and one pulled next to her, as she closed her teary eyes and took a deep breath.

I didn't mean to do it. She thought. I only wanted to fufil my promise that I made a long time ago. I just wanted to be able to do my job - to protect everyone from harm. I-

"You know what you did back there wasn't your fault, right?" Jack said behind her in a surprisingly soothing voice. At the boys voice Miriam's eyes bolted open as she jumped up and faced him.

"I know...." Miriam said after sighing. "I just..."

"You're just guilty that.." Jack started.

"You/I couldn't do my job." they both said at the same time, whispering.

After that there was silence as they both faced the sunset. Miriam softly lowered her head and her eyes clouded with guilt.

"She heard the argument...didn't she?" the female Guardian stated, rather than asked. At this Jack only nodded as his expression turned the same as his supposed older sister's.

It was quiet afterwards. They both watched the wakandan people rush to their homes as the night was fast approaching. Suddenly, Miriam felt  dark energy near them. It was like a predetor that was stalking their prey before killing.

And just as this predator was about to strike, Miriam swiftly unsheathed one of her swords and cut the wolf's head off, and it turned to dust.

Jack then got in a fighting position, back to back with Miriam as many wolves surrounded them from all sides.

"Soooooo.... what's the plan, chief?" Jack asked.

"We blow this popsicle stand." she replied and then the wolves charged at them.

Both of them fought greatly. While Miriam used her magic and Jack his ice powers to destroy the wolves, the beast's numbers seemed endless. And soon enough a wolf bit into Miriam's arm as she cried out in pain and smashed the wolf's head against the stone wall, making it fall unconceous and let go of her hand.

But when she looked at the bite, her vision started to blurr. She then slowly fell to the ground dizzily as the noise around her was muffled, like it was happening outside of someones home. She then reached out her hand once she saw Jack get bitten too.

"Jack...." she weakly called out as she lost her conceusness.

??? pov.

I watched as my soldiers dragged the two Guardians to my throne room.

The leader of them turned to look at me, silently asking for my next orders

The leader of them turned to look at me, silently asking for my next orders.

"Leave us, Remus. I shall call for you once needed." I said in a calm yet cold voice that would send chills up anyones spine once they heard it.

Remus the bowed to me and growled at the other wolves to follow him out of the room. After some time the two started to wake up. They both moaned in pain from the poison that was in my wolves' fangs and they looked around confusingly.

"Welcome, my dear children." I said to them in the same cold voice to them and they then looked at me. While the boy's, Jack's, eyes showed anger at me, Miriam's only widened.

"(Y/n) Artemis?" she breathed out in realisation. "You were the protector of Azarath?"

Miriam's pov.

After all this time. She was always here! Even when her people perished? But.....but why?

"Yes. Yes, I have been here. Even before I created Azarath, even during the fall of them." as she said this, a massive chill went up my spine at the tone of her voice. And as I looked at Jack, I guessed that the same thing happened to him as well.

"Then why? Why would you abandon-" I started asking in desparation, craving answers.

"WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY PEOPLE DOESN'T CONCERN YOU!!!" (Y/n) yelled. "THIS IS MY KINGDOM AND I CAN DO WITH MY PEOPLE WHATERVER I PLEASE!!!!"

"BUT WHY WOULD YOU SACRIFICE INNOCENTS FOR NO REASON?!?!" Jack yelled at the Queen. I turned to him and gave him a pleading look.

"The summoning of Trigon was not of my doing. I simply let them die." she said. "....And there was a reason."

(Y/n) then turned towards the large doors near us.

"Guards!" immediantely wolves came in and I started to fear for mine and Jack's life. "Take them to a sell!"

"No! No, you can't! Please (Y/n)! I know you don't want to do this! You know that Lauga wouldn't want this pl-" I yelled to the Queen before the large doors smacked shut.

(Y/n) Artemis' pov.

How dare she!?!? How dare she mention my little girl's name!!! No matter. She still won't survive after me and Pitch find my girl. I thought as I looked at the empty crib near the throne and my eyes watered.

My sweet little girl.

You never deserved this.

I promise, Lauga. I will find you.

(The darkness keeps growing...)
