I examined myself in the mirror.

After hours of misery, I finally decided to wear a floral skirt that fell slightly above my knees overtop a plain white tank top.

I brushed my hair out and straightened it out a little with my mom's flat iron. I looked over at my alarm clock. It read 6:50 p.m. Lucas and I had decided earlier this week that the best time would be at 7:00 tonight, so he should be here any minute now.

The butterflies suddenly started to enter my stomach. "Oh God," I mumbled as I heard the knocking on the door. I could just hear my mom unlatching the door and swinging it open, while forcing out a big fake smile. She wasn't too happy when I told her that I had a date with Lucas tonight. But I didn't give a shit about what she thought. I could hear them chatting. I wondered what they were talking about. It was most likely about me. I hated it when people talked about me, so I slowly headed out of my room, wanting to eavesdrop on their conversation and then stop it immediately.

"Now, I want her back by 10:30 pm, sharp. No later than that; And I'm serious, not even a second later. You understand me, boy?" I was shocked. I couldn't believe that my mom could be so clingy and uptight. My whole life I had known her as the mom that would just lay food on my plate and that was it. She never told me that she loved me, she never gave me a hug or comforted me when I was sad. Never.

Once Lucas nodded and promised my mom that he would me bring me home back on time. I decided to reveal myself and walk towards them. I plastered on a big smile on my face and confidently started to march. "Hey!" Both of them turned and stared. Just stared, Lucas with a loving gleam in his eye and my mom, a blank but cold and icy stare. They both gave me the shivers. It was pretty awkward.

"So, shall we go?" Lucas asked, breaking the silence. I smiled at him warmly, as a silent thank you and nodded. "Yeah. Bye, mom."

I wasn't expecting this much to be honest, but Lucas went all out and decided to take me to the fanciest restaurant in town, Le Champlaine.

"I've never actually been here, but I've heard good things about it and I thought you would like it." He admitted, after I had asked him what he liked about the place and why he took me here. I nodded as we took our seats. It was silent between the two of us as we looked through our menus. After much thought, I decided to order every single type of french bread they served. I had always loved croissants, so I figured to give the other types of french bread a try.

Lucas on the other hand, was against eating croissants or any other type of french bread. Like the guys at my school, he was all up for gross and disgusting stuff. So he ended up ordering escargot.

When the food came, I did my best to not look at his food, knowing that there was a huge chance that I would throw up at the sight of it.

Once he noticed that I had been avoiding it and shoved one in my face, laughing. I pushed it away, in disgust. "Eww! Take it away! Take it away!" He grinned at me and tossed it into his mouth. "Yum." I rolled my eyes at him and ate my assortment of french bread.

That very minute, somebody walked in; and it was very familiar somebody. It was none other than, Alex Raine. I despised her ever since the first day of junior kindergarten. I can't actually remember what led myself to dislike her, but I hated her, period. She passed by my table and scowled at me. I scowled back at her and then rolled my eyes as she started to walk away. Lucas noticed the tension between us and took my hand. "What's wrong? Who is she?" He asked, squeezing my hand tight with a concerned look across his face.

"My worst enemy."
