-Ashton-

I stood with my back pressed up against the chalky brick wall of the school. I was waiting for Grayson to appear looking for the winding branches of the Joshua tree next to me. Being stuck as not only someone's project partner but also their personal tour guide was not a prime arrangement, but I had to admit that I was lucky that the person I was responsible for was Grayson.

When I saw her in the classroom I couldn't help but stare a little. She had short dusty brown hair that fell nicely without any effort. I could see the innocence in her face: the soft smile, the light pink bow shaped lips, the natural blush of her cheeks, and of course the big gray eyes. She seemed a bit disappointed when I didn't bother to look at her eyes when she was explaining her name. But I wasn't just ignoring her, I had already noticed. She had these huge soft doe eyes that were a very unusual gray color. They were like what I imagined the fog over the San Francisco Bay to look like.

My thoughts were interrupted by the buzz of my phone. I looked down to see a message from Hannah. Damn, how did she even have my number... she must've added herself to my contacts while I was sleeping... typical.

Hannah: Hey babe miss you already! Come back again tonight?

I rolled my eyes. Just when I thought girls couldn't get more desperate they proved me wrong. The concept of casual sex just never really meshed with them. I thought back to my day dream of Grayson. I really shouldn't even think of the poor girl. She was so innocent I might actually feel bad for corrupting her. There was no doubt that I was going to be a bad influence on the naive new girl. No, I couldn't do it. She would be too easy, I would have her wrapped around my finger and her virginity in my pocket by the end of today if I really wanted. But on the contrary to what most people thought of me, I did have a heart not just a gaping hole in my chest.

"Ashton?" A sweet voice called to me.

"Mhmm?" I responded realizing that Grayson was standing right in front of me. She was wearing a flowy white top with big sleeves and dark jeans. Her shirt made her look like an angel and it reminded me to stay on my best behavior in order to not taint her pure little heart.

"Are we going to work on our project?" She asked.

"Well yeah, why else would I be waiting for you." I spat. Things would be easier if she didn't like me so I tried my best to be my usual pleasant self.

"Oh ok. Well my house is being unpacked still so my parents don't want anyone there." She explained meekly.

"Stop talking to me." I snapped. I began to walk towards the parking lot and she followed keeping slightly behind me. I made it to the parking lot to my old run down truck. I couldn't help but wonder what the city girl from the private school would think of riding in such a rusty old vehicle.

She sat down and buckled up without a peep. The engine roared as I started the car, and I chuckled to myself as I heard a little squeal of surprise escape her lips as we zoomed away.

-Grayson-

"Are you kidnapping me?" I asked after we had been driving out in the middle of just plain desert for about ten minutes in total silence.

"Yes." Ashton replied matter of factly.

"I have my phone, I'll just call the police." I replied.

"You're kidding right?" He laughed in disbelief.

I didn't say anything and he looked over to see my straight face.

"So naive," He chuckled. "I may not be the best person, but I'm not a human trafficker."
