chapter 10

"SURPRISE!!" The whole pack throws confetti at the two as they walk through the door. Streamers hang from the walls of the commun floor, balloons bouncing around the ceiling. A four story cake sits on the kitchen table, absolutely covered in frosting and decorative flowers.

A man walks up to the two, shakes Darius's hand and hugs Aria. "Welcome to the family, Luna Aria" the crowd cheers again.

Katie runs up to Aria and Darius, wrapping them both in a lung crushing hug. "Happy birthday, you two. I'm so happy you've found your lovely mate, Darius!" Jackson shakes Darius's hand and hugs Aria, once again.

"You're like a sister to me, Aria. Welcome to our family." Champagne pops and the music plays. The party goes on basically as it started, Hand shakes and hugs. Why? Because not only is it a birthday party, it's a mate party.

Darius follows Aria to the balcony. "Why so glum, chum?" Darius wraps an arm around Arias waist.

"It's just.. I'm really overwhelmed. You have all been so nice to me, and I love it. It's just, I'm not used to this treatment. And please don't take this the wrong way, but I never accepted you as my mate, we didn't have time to finalize it, not that I'd say no, it's just that I'm scared I've never had this happen and i just don't know how I feel. It's all so much and i don't know what to do. I just-"

"Shhhhh," Darius cuts off Arias nervous rant. "No pressure, my dear. I love you as you are. Don't hate yourself for any of this, everything we are doing for you is because we all love you in different ways. Breath, my Aria. Everything will work out for us." Darius hugs her close. "Aria, I accept you as my mate."

Aria takes a deep breath. "Darius, I accept you as my mate." Darius smiles huge and kisses Aria on the forehead.

"Thank you Aria, I will cherish you for the rest of our lives." The hug continues and the two watch all the chaos over the pool.

"Last one in's a rotten egg!" Katie runs to the pool as everyone else takes a shot and follows her in. Everyone screams and hollers as the fun continues.

"Everyone looks so happy." Aria looks at Darius. "Why?" Darius smiles, looking into her eyes.

"Most of those people down there have known me my whole entire life. It's always a great excitement when the Alpha finds his Luna. It means the pack will always be complete, stronger than a one man force. You, my Luna, are the other half to our pack leadership. Don't let it scare you, we're a great team!" Darius says pulling Aria into a tighter hug. "We can do anything together." Aria smiles.

3 am rolls around and everyone has gone to bed. The only two still awake are Aria and Darius. They swim alone in the pool, soaking in the night sky. "I love swimming. It's so relaxing" Aria says.

Darius floats on his back. "Me too, it connects me to the water element which I never really get to do as a Wolf." Darius closes his eyes.

"I miss my mom sometimes. I wish she could have been here to meet you. She always prayed that I'd find a beautiful mate who'd save me from my father. She was a beautiful lady." Aria sighs.

"What happened to her?" Darius asks carefully.

"She was protecting me from a shooter in a park. She got shot, ending her life and sentencing mine with my father." Aria frowns. "I wish I had some family left that isn't horrible. My father would always go on about how Mom was his mate, but she assured me he wasn't. She was kidnapped by him. He's 100% crazy. What ever happened with him?"

Darius has been dreading this question. "He got away. I beat his ass and then he got away. He was meant to be in our dungeon, but alas he got the fuck away." Darius starts to fume. Aria floats over to him and grabs his hand.
