A/n: This book is written in second person to help you empathize more. So basically, it's putting you in Allura's shoes.

You were a princess, heir to the throne. Your planet loved you. You had a loving family. Your life was perfect. Sometimes Zarkon and Honerva would come to visit. They'd play with you. They were almost like parents... an Uncle and Aunt perhaps? They would always look out for you. You loved them, and you thought that they loved you, but perhaps you were mistaken...

Zarkon had attacked your planet. He said that he wanted the lions. Why would he start a war for them? Didn't he care about your father? Your people? Didn't he care about you? Your father told you that he was evil. You didn't question him. There could have been more to the story, but you trusted your father. You knew that you couldn't be wrong about him, just like how you were wrong about Zarkon. Your planet fought a hard battle, but your battle was internal. You were fighting your thoughts. You used to know some of these Galra. You trusted them, but it seemed to have been a mistake. People who you once considered friends were in the battle, murdering your people. Coran ran up to you, clearly shaken. His eyes were glassy, was he crying? He attempted to speak, but his words were cut off with a sob. You asked him what was wrong and he started crying. You attempted to comfort him. He kept on muttering the words "I'm sorry. I-I'm so sorry". You were confused. Sorry about what? It couldn't be about the Galra, if it was why would he state his condolences so late? What else did she have to lose except-

No.

You sprinted out of the castle. Guards attempted to stop you but you shoved them aside. You were not allowed to lose someone else. You wouldn't allow it. You ran through a field. Ships fought overhead, but you could care less. You had only one thought in your head. You made your way towards the crashes pod in the middle of the field. You reached the pod, and opened the door. You began to cry. Your mother lay in the pod, with alarmingly pale skin. She didn't seem to be breathing. You shook her gently. "Mother?" You said. "Please Mother, get up." She lay still, not reacting. You had realized what happened, but you refused to accept it. "Mother! Wake up! I command you to wake up!" You shook her wildly. "No! You are not going to leave me! I refuse to be abandoned again! Wake up!" You held your mother close, sobbing. It was then when you lost everything. The Galra had betrayed you. They killed your people. They killed your mother. All of a sudden, your sadness had turned into a burning rage, that turned into a blind hatred. With your mother limp in your arms, you drove back to the Castle of Lions in the damaged pod. Soldiers had shot at you, but you didn't care. Subconsciously, you had channeled your Altean energy into the pod, keeping it functional.

You arrived at the Castle of Lions. You exited the pod carrying your mother in your arms. Guards came, worried for your safety. They noticed the woman in your arms. "What happened to the Queen?" They'd asked. "Your Queen is dead and we will be next if we do not use the Voltron lions!" You had yelled. You gently lowered your mother to the floor and marched off, in search of your father.

You had approached him as he was giving out commands for the battle. As he saw your expression, he asked you what was wrong. You explained to him that your mother had died. The look on his face was one of grief and pure horror. You told him that you needed Voltron, that it was the only weapon powerful enough to defeat Zarkon. He refused. You attempted to reason with him. "How many more lives will need to be lost until you listen to me?!" You told him. But your father still did not listen. And perhaps for once, you questioned your father.

A couple days had passed. Altea was losing the war. You father had called for you. You apologized for you harsh reaction earlier, you were stressed out because of your mother's death. He told you that it was not your fault. You pleaded for him to use the lions, but he still refused. He was afraid that Zarkon would take control of the Black Lion. They didn't even have a Black Paladin. You said that one of the other Paladins might possibly be able to do it, she could fly whatever lion was left over. You brought up the fact that they didn't even need to use the black lion. Your father told you that it was too late. He had already sent the lions away to places where Zarkon would never find them. You believed that he made a foolish decision. Your planet had nothing left to lose, why be cautious now? You could hear screams from outside. Explosions rumbled the ground. Your father called for Coran. He told him to watch after you. He gently cupped your face in his hand. "If all goes well, I will see you again," he said.

You never saw him again.

You woke up 10,000 years later. You still remembered the war as if it was only seconds ago. It was then when you decided that you would defeat the Galra. You wouldn't let them do to others what they did to you.

Keith.

He always looked out for you.

He was like family to you.

You cared about him, just as he cared about you. You felt a strong platonic love towards him.

You trusted him.

He was Galra too.

You swore to yourself that you would never trust a Galra again. You could see history repeating itself. So you attempted to distance yourself from him. That way, if he betrayed you, it wouldn't hurt less. You could never go through that again.

Eventually, you learnt how to trust again. Some of the Galra were bad, but just as many of them weren't. You apologized for your behaviour. You built alliances. You built friendships.

But did it really matter?

Because in the end, he left you too.

Just like everyone else.

So you shoved aside your emotions, afraid.

Afraid of the broken princess you had turned into.
